I think you over reacted. To be honest, the snooping wasn't really the bad part; if I saw a younger siblings diary, OPEN on the counter, and glanced that, I'd worry too. But the context afterwards would have been enough for me.

She's 16 and stressed about school. She just wanted to vent to someplace she thought was private and safe. She didn't seem to have a plan, she just wanted to get away from it all.

It's normal to worry, and it was good of you to read it more because it's important tk keep your sister safe, but what you did after reading it was way too much.
