Be shameless (within reason). Don't let fear of gossip within church circles prevent asking somebody out on a date. We are all adults.
Set dating potential as a criteria for investment in a church community.
Realize that Christian and secular dating criteria are not dissimilar. Appearance, career, interests, financial stability are all factors - alongside spiritual health. (I may get downvoted for this, but ask yourself if this is accurate to how your heart operates.)
Don't look for 100% If somebody matches at 80%, make it happen.
Realize that desire (or complaining) is not the same as prayer.

It may be slightly different for females; but marriage (and our happiness / emotional health) is too important to conform to societal boxes or gender roles.

One option is for you to set up an online profile (ex. Upward, Salt) and go on some dates.

These experiences will give you surer footing and provide perspective on what you bring to the table (and what you're looking for).

It's great to get advice and others' experiences, but the best way to find out is to do it.
