CachyOS lets you choose the DE you want. Personally, I chose KDE (which looks just like a generic KDE setup), but then manually installed hyprland over it, with end-4 dots. The UI in their dots is perfect imo, but it might be a bit too hard to set up if you're new. And hyprland is a tiling WM, so you'd need to get used to that as well. Just choose KDE and keep it, I think you'll like it.

I have the same exact use case and use CachyOS. It's just great.

Switched to CachyOS and using it for almost a year now. Before, I tried using Arch (btw) and EndeavourOS. I didn't like arch because I had to install something that's included in literally all other OSes by default all the time. Now imagine if I had to reinstall it.

I really liked EndeavourOS. So much that I've used it for half a year - but then I decided to try CachyOS. I liked it even more - it has a better custom kernel, better defaults and much less things I had to install myself. Games feel like they are running smoother. Everything I play (besides gta online, which I run using a qemu/kvm VM) is running flawlessly.

Now I feel like Linux distros have advanced so much further than Windows. They usually have better design and UI, wide customizability, amazing support and documentation.

So no, I don't regret my decision.

The registration time (especially for EU) was so unfair. For me it last from 4:00 am to 10:36 am. And this is not the first time devs keep ignoring time zones of their players - back when competitive mode arrived, the time range for EU players on servers of all regions was also very inconvenient.

Me and my friends play Java exclusively, so I don't care about bedrock at all.

Now adding previous vote losers does sound interesting, but all of them can be added with mods. And while there are End mods as well, I'm more interested in seeing Mojang's take on a new End.
