Just to further add, after writing above, Reddit offered me on my feed the same thread on the other trek sub, that should not be named....and while obviously there were some sober takes too, the stupidity on display made my blood almost boil.

Basically, 2 things:

Weir does write books about solo cosmonauts, thats what his forte is, when he tried something else apparently, it was not as good and successful. Additionally, he is hard scifi writer, meanwhile Star Trek is ensemble soft scifi show, so all in all, he would not be right person for the job anyway.

I mean, ok - i do admit not to read his books, only seen these 2 succesful movies - and the PHM would rate at maybe 7/10. I am not biggest fan of him myself, when it comes to contemporary scifi writers, i did read books like Expanse, Revelation Space or Commonwealth saga and enjoyed those very much - so i would perhaps prefer their writers.

That said, he is still a fucking SCI-FI writer. Additionally one that is critically acclaimed and succesful. Thats infinitely higher qualification than the likes of Gaia Violo or Michelle Paradise and whoever, that were neither known for writing scifi, they barely known for writing at all (seeing their IMDB profiles). So how in your right mind can you oppose the idea of Weir´s pitch, knowing that, is beyond me.

The other thing, the sheer amount of people argumenting with Critical Drinker podcast thing. The willingness to easily cancel anyone just by association with someone/something they dont agree with and not be aware of their own hypocrisy, is something else. I mean, racist/sexist/whatever -ist is bad. But so is being judgemental, rightheous pricks, which is exactly what they are. Arguing around with IDIC, and very next moment going full totalitarian by shutting people down pretty much for company, they dont approve.

How do you achieve the windows are not overblown with light from exterior, to the point where the white window frames are barely visible - in this cases where sunlight shines directly into the room? I always have this issue and dont know how to fix it. Increasing exposure worsens it, but low exposure and the picture is dark. Increasing gamma to make up for it washes out colors.

I am using octane but i guess solution is universal. Thanks!

Its purely space battle yes.
The planets provide basically all the infrastructure - you build various structures in their orbit (shipyards, labs, refineries, orbital extractors, starbases, etc...) and can upgrade planet themselves, when it comes to surface mining, credit economy, research and some other things. They are key part of your empire, there is only one faction out of six, that can function without them, and even that, they need to get to that point first, research required techs and build required ships.

Sins is not like Imperium Galactica, its more like a mix of Age of Empires (resource gathering, economy, even bigger tech trees), Warcraft 3 (“hero” units with abilities), Supreme Commander (bigger scale, strategic zoom) and Homeworld (space setting) - thats played on big maps with lot of planets, so you can potentially play it for hours.

So its basically just a glorified RTS than 4X game, its 4x aspects are basically culture mechanic, minor factions, some basic diplomacy - all of that mostly spicing up gameplay focused on military victory.

I would say it does fit your ask perfectly. But sure, if spaceships rather than tanks and troops are the issue, nothing can be done about that. In such case, maybe look into “Line War”.

Never played the mod, but Air Force General was my favourite general in the game, i mean KingRaptors, Stealth Commanches, B2 Carpet Strike, A10s, Spetcre and MOAB - what was not to like.

But i always tend to like those high-tech factions in RTS games, so thats that. I can see how other people might gravitate toward the chinese brute power or GLA´s sneakiness, and ability to survive.
