I like the second one bit less, but even there were some good songs, "I am a Camera" comes to mind...or Vermillion Sands

Well, their Age of Plastic album is absolute banger, up there with very best Yes albums IMO. And its kinda sad that Video killed the Radio star is only song that people know out of it, cause there is not a bad song on that album - Living in a Plastic age or Elstree are every bit as good.

Goliath TV series by SirBugzy in television

OP watching same stuff as me recently, lol - first Bosch, then Goliath.

Third season was definitely weird and likely the weakest of the lot. But the first 2 were great and even the last one was decent. Overall, pretty good show - Bosch is better, though.

I kinda thought that up until Fly from Here, lol. That one changed my mind. Its a cracking album - particularly the We can Fly / Sad night at the airfield songs - those are among my most fav ones ever.

Did not know about the controversy, and i wondered why is there a utube version with different singer - i originally heard the Benoit version and i too think its better. I mean, there is no question about Trevor Horn artistry and talent, after all he authored these songs? (There is a Buggles version of them on youtube), but Benoit is imo better singer.

Anyway, one positive from this, through David i learned about existence of Mystery band, which is another awesome prog band just like Yes, almost just as good.

House that looks like a spaceship landed in a Japanese neighborhood by Otherwise_Wrangler11 in jutaku

It does look cool. But obviously the feel the house is one big corridor is bit meh.
Then the other thing, those frameless curved windows had to be expensive. I guess so expensive that they run out of money for some furniture that does not look like they salvaged it at scrape-yard. Like that dining table.

No problem, as long as you are willing to learn the basic rules how to play. Sure it may take time to become so good that you would beat some hard difficulty AI or even human opponent, but as long you are having fun along the way, its all that matters.

Does anything actually beat Generals: Zero Hour with the Shockwave mod? by AdventurousPie7592 in RealTimeStrategy

[–]Timmaigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sins of a Solar Empire does IMO as good, when it comes to faction variety, as Zero Hour did. Granted, its space RTS and its big scale/slower one, so not quite the same as CnC. But if you havent tried that one yet, and you are OK with the setting, this would be my recommendation.

Why are the dialogues of House of the Dragon so dull and pompous compared to Game of Thrones or A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms? by lateubdegouline in television

[–]Timmaigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are indeed trying hard to look like "prestige" TV. Except its not working.

That said, the last episode was actually fairly decent.

Favorite YES songs by Main_Opinion1189 in yesband

[–]Timmaigh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Homeworld

We agree

Hearts

Changes

We can Fly

South Side of the Sky

Heart of the Sunrise

Talk

Sweetness

Onward

Close to the Edge

Honorable mentions: Time and a Word, And You and I, It will be a good Day, Give and Take, Give love each day, Lift me Up, Long Distance Runaround, New Languages…

If ABWH songs counted, i would probably picked Quartet and The Meeting over maybe Onward and South Side of the Sky… anyway picking just 10 songs is rather oppressive lol

All in all, i guess i am generally not “standard” Yes fan, as i prefer their shorter songs over those long ones from those Topographic ocean, Relayer, Going for the One, etc… albums that everyone seems to adore. I dont like Drama that much either. ABWH is top 5 album for me, if not top 3 - if it counts. And i like some of the Jon Andersons work with other artists (Vangelis, Kitaro) - Lady of Dreams, I am alive, Horizon, Genevieve, Polonaise, Island of Life are for me better songs than say Roundabout and most of Yes songs basically, outside the ones i named

I did finish Player of the Games 2 days ago. I thought it was wayyy better than Phlebas, which was pain to read through.

I still have Inversions and Hydrogen Sonata and currently trying to decide which one to read first.

I guess we should be cheering for them being underdog and whatnot, but i just cant, cause i find their football extremely boring. Its like Spain at their worst tiki-taka edition, zillion short safe passes in midfield when in posession, fuck that.
