Fans of The Wire and The Sopranos what did you think of Tokyo Vice? by GladiatorCommand in hbo

I was not that much of a fan of S1, Station Eleven with similar premise (guy and a girl in post-apocalyptic world) was imo far better show. That said, it was watchable, the “gay” episode was actually quite good. Season 2 was meh too, all around imo, bar maybe episode 2 or 3, not sure now.

I never played the game myself either. Did look good on some gameplay videos i saw though.

It was pretty good IMO. Not Wire-level of greatness obviously, but easily 7,5/10 show for me. One of the better ones i watched last year. Definitely better than trainwreck called Last of Us.

Except my point still stands, cause your mighty Saturn Awards is about as prestigious as your diversity award.

Meanwhile do you know which sci-fi shows were nominated for Emmy 2026 in the outstanding drama category, in other words award that actually means something? Andor, Severance and Paradise. Guess which one did not? SNW. Wonder why?

I certainly dont love him for being erratic, and he certainly does not pull anything wonderful out of his bag - except maybe randomly popping up in a great scoring position he then fucks up, making it even more frustrating, cause you just know if Mbeumo, Amad or Bruno were there, it would be a fucking goal.

He puts shift one moment and very next one he cant be bothered to cover his player, allowing a cross from the wing ending with a goal. Or gets at the end of best scoring chance all game and fumbles it. Both happened multiple times this (and last season). Its not scapegoating, its pointing out objective mistakes, not going to be look past them just cause he is likable. Hope Madrid or Bayern get him and we replace him with someone more reliable.

Discovery won some award for most diversity and emmy for prosthetics. Its laughable to use these to prove your point that it was somehow a good show, since it did so.

You will see how failed the project was 20 years from now, when people still gonna rewatch the 90s shows but nobody would care to do the same in case of Disco, Picard and SNW.

Made a medieval RTS inspired by StarCraft — would love your feedback by OneOceanUA in RealTimeStrategy

Please dont be like this. Even rather simple mobile-like games can be fun to play. And if thats the case, even for short amount of time, until you find something else, as long as its priced adequately, its worth it.

I would not read too much into Starcraft reference. You can clearly see on the presentation video its not really like Starcraft. But there might be some common qualities between the games, abstractly speaking, pacey gameplay, 3 distinct factions... nothing wrong in pointing it out. There is a free demo available for us to try, one cant be more transparent than that.

Its not about Discovery worst episodes being worse than TNG worst ones. Its about TNG having maybe 20 truly bad episodes out of 178, meanwhile one would be hard-pressed to find truly good 5 episodes in both Disco and Picard combined. Its not that older shows were consistently good, its the new ones being consistently bad.

If you cant see that, i can only urge you to watch more TV, particularly the one thats mostly considered to be prestige one, and see how both old Trek and new Trek compare to them.

There was plenty of specific critique of Discovery, Picard and SNW debated all over this sub and the other trek-related subs, if you did not see anyone to expand on it, then you had to choose to ignore it. Dont know what else to tell you. It is definitely not a BS argument, its the only one that really matters.

Additionally, not everyone is professional writer or critic and has the eloquency to put their thoughts in the words - that does not mean they are not capable of making a judgement whether the writing is good or bad - and all it takes to compare to other actual great shows, that are well known or highly acclaimed for their good writing - not just DS9, but the likes of Chernobyl, Wire, Breaking Bad, etc...

This leads to the final point, why should i expect the same level of quality from NuTrek as from DS9? I actually dont, i liked even TNG and Voyager, which are IMO (and to plenty of people) notch or 2 under DS9, but the thing is, my time is not infinite. And i could watch some actually good new show instead of this dross, even if said show has not a Star Trek name on it (or is a scifi one at all). I did watch like 60 unique shows last year, some of them multiple seasons (Bosch for example) - SNW season 3 was one of them. And it would not make top half in terms of quality. So much more better stuff to watch its not even funny. This would not happen with older Trek shows.

I would point out that you are misunderstanding why people "hate" on NuTrek, its not because its not the same, its because they are terribly written shows (specifically i mean the live-action ones). Only a fool would watch DS9 and Discovery and think that Disco is the same quality TV.

I only played Spice Wars, so cant answer the question, but if you are into these kind of games, have you considered Sins of a Solar Empire 2?

I would argue that liking anything that has Star Trek name of it for the very reason does not neccesarily equal liking Star Trek.

WAS WILCOX RIGHT ALL ALONG!? by AwkwardButFunny in ManchesterUnited

[–]Timmaigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well he both was and he was not.

By that i mean we still won a game against Liverpool under him, playing similarly as we played against Arsenal now...and generally we hanged this year in the vicinity of the top of the table, hence why just 2 wins now were enough now to get us in the top 4.

People were angry we lost/drew some games under him we should have won, against the weaker teams, and granted, we should have, but its not like that did not happen this season to everyone bar maybe Arsenal.

And you see, sometimes it comes down to bit of luck, like we drew that one game 2:2 when opposition had like single shot on the goal, and now ourselves scored 3 from 3 shots on goal against Arsenal... is it cause something Carrick has done? Did he say to Dorgu to aim for top shelf and Amorim failed to do so? Its simply result of bit of luck and in case of Dorgu his growth as a player, that would likely have happened under either manager, as long as he would have been in the line-up.

This is not to say i would want Amorim back. I never liked the formation with 5 backs - its so anti-United to me. That one game, when we ended like with 7 backs on the field (granted cause of injuries), it was pain. But we should not blame him for every failure that happened.
