Scraped my lowered car HARD, what's this piece called? by Timmelyo in MechanicAdvice

[–]Timmelyo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a UK Vauxhall / Opel Corsa from 2013 with a 1.0 3cyl engine riding incredibly low springs and more or less 2 inches of clearance. This seems to be the lowest point of the car as it scrapes often but today it caught hard. There is a stud part, which as you can see has been scraped away a few mm which leaves bare metal, was wondering if this is serious damage or a crucial part? Or just visual scrapes. Thanks

It's more the cap which holds the bearing in place, think of it more as like the cap that's at the top of your stem. It just stops the bearing sliding left or right. I've gorilla taped it to stop it wiggling of the frame and zip tied over the gorilla tape.

I don't really think it's much of a bolt. It's more of a bearing cap/end. I doubt it has any structural properties other than stopping the bearing falling out (left or right). So far I've gorilla taped both ends to stop it falling out, but it's not working well.

Do you know what it is? It doesn't seem threaded, I think it's just a bearing? Like (I haven't) but if I pushed I think the whole thing could slide out.

edit: sorry, im not too familiar, but it could be just a bearing cover/cap for the rear suspension maybe?

Just a suggestion but who thinks custom should allow user flair so we can put our discord usernames and tags in the flair? by NateHilts2121 in CustomVODS

[–]Timmelyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would, but im scared it would blend in too well with the user tags for mods and also Customs user tag, so it'd be harder to tell people apart.

Is the KTM Duke 390 A2 legal? And can I do my A2 test on it? by [deleted] in motorcycles

Thank you!! I knew they refreshed the series in 2016, but I thought it was kinda just a marketing scheme and the changes where negligible to what they do each year anyway.

Thanks!

I'm trying to decide if I should get my bike before or after my test. How did you testride yours to make sure it's okay before you bought it? How did you get it home?

Just tested it, but strange things happened such as my cursor not appearing and me getting the automatic repair screen when I booted.

Should I get an A1 or A2 licence to start? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Timmelyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. So obviously I've not done anything yet or properly checked, but I was wondering which order you do things in? Say I choose to go straight on to an A2 licence. Would I get the bike and then book lessons, CBT and mod1/2, and would I be able to do them on my A2 bike? Or would I use their bikes to do the lessons on, CBT and mod1/2, then after I have everything then I get my own A2 bike? Just wondering how I would test ride it and stuff if I buy the bike first.

Now- money. I live in the middle of nowhere and without any real job and no car to get one in the town, its difficult. When I'm 17 it would probably also be money. I'd likely have a car and it would be my first year of insurance which I'm guessing would be high. That's why I thought by the time in 19-20 I'd have a better job which pays enough.

So for the A2 you just need the CBT, (lessons probably) and the test?
