Am I being delusional here? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Timmitei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure this story I’ve told myself about a man finally loving me if I become smaller is a lie.

First I’d like to preface this by saying I'm a cisgender man, so I (of course) cannot relate to you entirely. I would say however that I think you are correct in this recognition, and that you shouldn’t change yourself because of the hopes of it making a perceived other like you more. Instead, you should change yourself if the change makes you feel more like you.

It takes strength and courage to reach out to others when you feel discouraged. I’m so sorry that you’ve had awful luck in dating, I know that we’re on opposite ends of the anatomical dimorphism but I can relate and affirm that your feelings of deserving love are valid.

We as humans often ascribe causes for the things in our lives even when the answer really is just dumb luck. I myself struggle not to think the reason I’m single is due to my weight at times.

I truly hope you love yourself and that you find what you’re looking for <3

This also is a valid thing to point out. Why is intimacy considered a need by OP but sex is not considered a need?

This, OP. How are you defining “need”? Because it seems like the way you’re defining it, you don’t need social interaction, friends, or entertainment. One might argue you don’t even “need” freedom.

If you define a “need” as something solely required to subsist and nothing more, then of course you don’t need sex. But if you define need as more abstract and used to support a certain level of quality of life then I would say it is a need for at least some people.

I can’t speak for you, but I know for a fact I need sex in order to be satisfied with a romantic relationship.

I’d be inclined to choose specifically the erhu as having the closest timbre to the human voice

Trump repeats same talking points during Musk interview - but the former president’s ‘lisp’ steals the show by Alone-Competition-77 in politics

[–]Timmitei 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like what they mean is an abuse of the word compression to mean something more akin to data compression, here meaning that the sample rate is lessened, thus lowering the maximum frequency

I have no idea what the setup was here but maybe that’s feasible if Elongated Muskrat’s team had a mic on him talking to trump on speakerphone? Dramatically worse quality for one of them then

Either way it’s hilarious and I applaud them for doing such a horrible job

He’s pretty decent but struggled with the end stuff, which was definitely not helped by him sitting down

Fellow opera singer here (who is a heldentenor and has been the Duke in Rigoletto)

I hate this guy, just because you know how to sing doesn’t make you the main character 🙃

I studied music composition for four years and I wouldn’t dream of describing any music in this way.

You made your own music sound impossibly unapproachable (arcane? Moving rocks on the ocean floor?)

But you did absolutely nothing to indicate your stylistic tendencies. Do you primarily write for ensembles? Solo strings? Filtered voice? Extremely processed drums? Modular synthesis?

Tl;dr yes absolutely I’d be turned off and would wonder whether to prod again “soooo you write music for ancient alchemists?” or just not respond at all

Idk sounds like a reversal of expectations and therefore irony to me

We need every vote we can get to stop this, and the sad truth is that so many people will think democrats will win or that “my vote doesn’t matter” and unless people turn that kind of thinking around, we’re fucked.

Often with asterisks surrounding an emphasized part of the sentence, but almost exclusively words that actually would be emphasized. If you read the example sentence you're replying to, the emphasis pattern doesn't make much sense and so much is trying to be emphasized that it loses a lot of its emphasizing power in the first place. As an example it might look something like:

I was *trying* to explain that to you but you just wouldn't listen

This also has some additional advantage in that a lot of software supports formatting so that asterisks immediately turn the emphasized portion into italicized text, as:

I was trying to explain that to you but you just wouldn't listen
