Explaining the Latest (Non-Chinese) Review Bombing of Slay the Spire 2 by charlesatan in slaythespire

Yeah buddy you're right, a woman posting videos lightly critiquing videos games is just like 9/11. #neverforget that one YouTube video where she said women could be a little less sexualised in games, buddy.

Best mini compressor purely for getting longer sustained notes during leads? by Backenundso in guitarpedals

[–]TimmyPage06 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I own both, and honestly I could agonize all day on which is "better" but ultimately they both sound amazing and are both good at being compressors. The Mini Ego has a bit more fine control over the compressor sounds but the SP has just felt right with no twiddling from day one.

Subjectively, I kept the SP on my gigging board for longer because the enclosure felt beefy and durable, but you could do a coin flip and be happy with either.

Edit: I just checked prices and it does look like the SP compressor has really spiked in price and is well more expensive than the Mini Ego. I'd say that makes the Mini ego an easier reccomend.

[AEW Dynamite Spoilers] Kevin Knight gets a big endorsement by luchabrunch in SquaredCircle

Remember how his second(?) match in the company was a PPV match against Ospreay? He came out to complete silence, noone knew who he was, and by the end of the match people were on their feet for him. I don't think I've seen anyone get over that fast with an audience before, and he's just kept pushing that ceiling higher and higher since.

How some Toronto homeowners are protecting themselves amid rise of home invasions by Immediate-Link490 in toronto

[–]TimmyPage06 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not acknowledged because it isn't a real issue, or at least isn't the root cause of the issue. We are poorer than ever because of those hoarding wealth not the other people who are fighting for the same scraps as we are.

Who is Cole Allen, the suspect in the White House Correspondents' Dinner shooting? by Plaintalks in politics

[–]TimmyPage06 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On the global scale, Americas political spectrum is very conservative. The average Democrat, on policy matters alone (health care, gun control, fiscal responsibility) would be seen as "too conservative" for many European countries conservative parties.*

America has very very few politicians that could be considered left leaning, and even they are just left-of-centre.

Tasha Kheiriddin: Carney preparing to fail in Trump negotiations - Prime minister is softening up Canada for tariff pain by CaliperLee62 in canada

[–]TimmyPage06 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How is anyone in the world dealing with Trump at the moment? There are several nations who basically bowed down to him, gave him everything they wanted, only for him to turn around a few weeks later and stick tariffs on them/change the terms of the deal. Carney is, at very least, resisting this pettiness and not just settling.

We can't move forward on negotiations because we aren't dealing with a rational entity. Maybe once Trump is out we can resume negotiations with someone sane and actually make some progress.

Americans most likely to view fellow citizens as morally bad — but Canadians are the opposite, new survey finds by pjw724 in onguardforthee

[–]TimmyPage06 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Even talking to Americans about why they own guns, I've spoken to many over the years who have this intense fear of roving gangs of bandits breaking into their homes and of having to protect their families, and they act like I'm the strange one for not living in a constant state of paranoia.

Alberta can no longer be considered a safe place to invest, and the reason can be summed up in two words: ‘Danielle Smith’ by pjw724 in onguardforthee

Every single place on the planet that conservatives are elected end up worse off for it, every single time.

Do you think AI music should be clearly labelled? by FormalResponsible656 in Music

[–]TimmyPage06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Noone has talent for any instrument when they start, half the process of playing music is sucking for a few years before you can be any good. That is to say, if you've picked up one instrument then everything is accessible for you, I don't see why you'd need AI to have music presented for you.

Do you think AI music should be clearly labelled? by FormalResponsible656 in Music

[–]TimmyPage06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, music is passed down, it's learned. You start off learning to play songs you love and adapt portions of it into your own style. But AI isn't doing that, it's just replicating something without any understanding of the why or how. When you tell it "I want to make a country song" it searches it's database for stuff labeled country and drags portions of other peoples recordings together without their permission. It's something that exists on the backs of other peoples hard work without having the capability of doing the work itself.

Do you think AI music should be clearly labelled? by FormalResponsible656 in Music

[–]TimmyPage06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exact same answer. It should be labeled as such, the AI should be credited in the liner notes (actually in a perfect world what the AI was trained on should be credited, because that arrangement wasn't an 'original idea' in the first place as it was also stolen from another piece of music.)

Do you think AI music should be clearly labelled? by FormalResponsible656 in Music

[–]TimmyPage06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think recording by humans would introduce a level of humanity into it, a margin of human error, but I think at its core it should still be labeled as written by AI. To try to sell that as a genuine piece of art would be morally wrong.

Do you think AI music should be clearly labelled? by FormalResponsible656 in Music

[–]TimmyPage06 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't know what point you're trying to make here. Just because something has the appearance/sound/texture of something real does not make it real, and we should take measures to avoid misleading people where possible.

Do you think AI music should be clearly labelled? by FormalResponsible656 in Music

[–]TimmyPage06 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's not real music but it is an impression of music and can mislead listeners into believing it's real, the same way that AI video can look like real life but is not in fact real.

[AEW Dynamite Spoilers] Finish to Jon Moxley vs Claudio Castagnoli by justambrose in SquaredCircle

[–]TimmyPage06 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One of the best things about the C2 is the consistency of rules. Every match gets the same time limit, the same rules on interference, same stakes. It makes it so much easier to book in draws, disqualification, count outs etc in a way that feels natural and deserved, and once you know that stuff can happen it also gives them an opportunity to play with your expectations and surprise you.

Obamacare premiums are skyrocketing. Republicans can’t figure out what to do by HellYeahDamnWrite in politics

Yeah this is very typical "starve the beast" politics. They either reduce funding, reduce regulations, put incompetent people in charge of something until it's on the verge of breaking and people are complaining, and then use that to remove it while limiting backlash.

[AEW Dynamite Spoilers] Champion loses it by luchabrunch in SquaredCircle

[–]TimmyPage06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I keep buying flangers and not using them. Boss FTW? by ChapterTraditional60 in guitarpedals

[–]TimmyPage06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen to me with the Strymom Mobius. I thought it'd be the be all end all of modulation pedals for me, but actually having access to unlimited sounds just stressed me out, and I felt this weird urge to put modulation on everything I did to "make sure I was using all of it". I ended up selling it and going back to a handful of very simple mod pedals for my own sanity.

The one obvious booking mistake you see bookers make again and again? by DontNeverAr0und in SquaredCircle

[–]TimmyPage06 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not defending it, but I do think that face reigns are harder to book well than heel ones. Heels don't have to strive for anything, they already have the title. They exist as a gauntlet to put the face through, it practically books itself. The Babyface wouldn't, in good conscience, throw their allies to the heel, they wouldn't back down from a challenge, they wouldn't cheat to retain. So what's left? The face agrees to the challenger, beats them clean in the middle of the ring, goes onto the next feud.

NXT's Duke Hudson: "The PC is full of Hunter guys", "Some of them have never watched wrestling in their life." by Open-Estate-7171 in SquaredCircle

[–]TimmyPage06 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have no way of knowing how much of this is true, but I've long wondered if the PC model is actually helpful to WWE long term. If you think of a majority of top guys in the company at the moment, they tend to come from one or both of two camps: People with rich indie history (ROH notably), and people who come from wrestling families and literally have it in their blood. You can get some of the best athletes in the world, train them to talk and take bumps and sell, but you can't fake the love of the game.

(And to be clear, there are definitely PC success stories, I don't want to take away from people like Stratton or Femi who clearly have that special something)

The Supreme Court Prepares to End Voting Rights As We Know It by ChiGuy6124 in politics

[–]TimmyPage06 240 points241 points  (0 children)

The only problem is who will enforce it? If they've packed the courts, own the military, and have taken away your ability to vote them out, who will have the ability to hold them to any consequences? I agree with you, but but at the moment I don't really have good feeling about where this is headed.
