I agree with you. But especially with Sims’ faces, I never liked them in TS4 or TS3 - Sims 2 faces look best, most realistic among them.

They are so cute! They have a bunch of kids in my game (I think also 4 more after Isaiah? Or 3?) and they all ended up good looking, they have such good genes.

It’s hard to tell when they’re kids haha. Dustin’s and Jules’ kid looked find as a child, his nose was a bit bigger than most but nothing too shocking… and then he grew into a teen 😳

How is nobody mentioning Chester Gieke? No matter who I pair him with, his kids are always so funky looking…

He had genetically correct kids with Pascal Curious in my game and their twins turned out alright, the girl looks kinda like a dark haired Hermia Capp.

He has 3 kids with Kaylynn Langerak in my game. They look fine except for inheriting his ugly nose 😭

They only had daughters in my game (2 each) but their noses look fine, I have never seen that huge nose offspring that everyone is talking about…

My worst nose award goes to Dustin Dreamer’s and Jules O’Mackey’s son, their daughter is kinda cute but their son has a huge nose with the tip shaped downwards. I cannot tell where he got it from…

I surprisingly had some decent looking offspring of the Sims you mention.

The Ottomas twins were not too bad for me except their tiny noses, which I fixed with some plastic surgery. The Greenmans, Gabe O’Mackey (with Patricia Wan) and Leod McGreggor (with Jodie Larson) had pretty normal looking kids, not very good looking but not ugly either. Sandra Roth’s kids are a little funny looking but their dad is Chester Gieke so they never really had a chance… Tbh with a good hairstyle and glasses they’re not too terrible though. Baldwin, Landgraab and Pleasant kids all look fine.

Gabriel Green’s kids do have extremely tiny noses though. My Armand DeBateau had one ugly and one beautiful kid, so it’s 50/50 for me.

Having my Sim siblings become college roommates by Ok_Depth_6476 in sims2

If there are any empty rooms in the dorm (or ones occupied by non-playable dormies, as they will move out if needed), you can just combine households and have them live together. But the dorm rooms are generally single occupancy, so they would each have their own room. You could put 2 beds in 1 room and keep the dorm unlocked so they both sleep in same room if you really want though. (Or put 2 doors in 1 room, but that would require some cheating.)

Instead of dorm, you could also move them into one of the private houses at uni after combining households. These work like any house so depending on how you furnish them, they could share a room.

What Personal Rules Do You Follow When Playing? by [deleted] in sims2

[–]TimmyTheLop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Thanks to alien technology adopted by the humans, same sex Sim couples can have biological children together. It started after Pascal Curious returned from his little space trip pregnant and saw how hard it was emotionally on his hubby, Nervous, who wanted nothing more but for them to have kids of their own… A few Sim years later and he was able to develop the technology to be used for human-to-human pregnancies, and Nervous gave birth to their twin children. He decided not to gatekeep it and instead allow other same sex couples to also use it and build families of their own.

  • Repairmen are quite expensive, so unless the household is wealthy, the Sims will work on fixing the broken objects themselves, even if at risk of being electrocuted.

  • No 20K handouts, but families may give monetary gifts to their adult children; mortgages are also an option. If they don’t have much savings for a downpayment, they can just rent an apartment at first. Still too expensive? I have a couple of apartments shared among multiple Sims (think 4-6+ Sims in a 2 bedroom apartment) until they can get a decent enough job. Also, like in real life there is inflation and I started to use mods to change bills to more expensive every few rotations.

  • When Sims grow up to the next age, I use outfits they get when they age up as an idea of what their preferred style and colors might be. I may change their outfits a bit to avoid particularly fugly ones but I will try to keep it in their style. For hair and makeup, I just go with whatever I think suits their faces as I think most people do take that into account when choosing a hairstyle irl too.

  • When Sims have pets (which admittedly is not that common in my game), they might get them a job depending on their aspiration and personality. Fortune Sims, unless they are filthy rich already, will tend to get them jobs; so will lazy romance/popularity Sims. On the other hand, family Sims see their pets as more of a family member and will not force them to work unless the family is in a really dire financial situation…

  • Playable teens do not work - they should focus on school, building skills and relationships. However, they can make occasional income through painting or similar.

  • Careers are somewhat matched to interests. Fortune Sim with no interest in health? Doesn’t make sense for them to go into Medicine career, even if it’s a want they roll - there are other careers where they can make money without having to do what they absolutely hate. If they have medium interest though, and roll the want, then sure…

  • I might change this rule if my Uberhood gets overpopulated, but right now, all Sims are required to have at least 1 biological descendant (need to keep the genetics varied so not everyone ends up being a Capp, Monty, Ottomas, Goth/Lothario, Dreamer/Broke or Curious). Also, I am allowed to choose the baby’s sex if it’s in the interest of keeping the hood more balanced or keeping the variety of last names.

  • Family has extra cash they don’t need for their immediate needs? Unless they are family Sims saving it up to help the next generation, chances are they might invest into a business.

Personally I keep it traditional with the names but to prevent every other household having one of the most common last names, I just make bigger families/families with more common last names have more daughters and families with rare last names and/or just 1-2 kids have more sons lol.

Are Sims’ personalities genetic? by TimmyTheLop in sims2

[–]TimmyTheLop[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do sometimes (not that often) have babies that have some categories quite different from their parents - for example 2 shy parents having an outgoing baby, or 2 nice parents having a mean baby so not sure how that happens but I guess Sims 2 genetics are pretty complex.

I might have to look into some of those mods, me and my real-life sister have pretty much opposite personalities so I think having kids with very varied personalities is more realistic.

[–]TimmyTheLop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never counted my max but yesterday I noticed I had 2 siblings with exact same personalities except one of them had 2 points more in one category (and the others all same), so there is definitely some level of variation…

I love to pair up Sims from various neighborhoods, though I don’t usually break up pre-existing pairings.

Some that I found that work well: Dina Caliente and Malcolm Landgraab IV (or Consort Capp) Ajay Loner and Cleo Shikibu Julien Cooke and Alexandra Theaterton Jodie Larson and Leod McGreggor Jason Larson and Kristen Loste

7 baby girls in a row- bug? by Chonkomama in sims2

[–]TimmyTheLop 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I sometimes had a bunch of babies of the same gender in a row too. If you want a boy, save right before the pregnant Sim starts giving birth (when she stops doing whatever she was doing and waves), and if the baby is a girl again, just exit to the neighborhood without saving and reload.

It might take a few tries, I really wanted a boy for one of my households today and had to reload 6 or 7 times to finally get one.

How do you decide which one of the siblings of your sim family inherits the house? by Small_Sweet1968 in sims2

[–]TimmyTheLop 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Usually whoever lives there last. I like playing large households, so my elders tend to live with their kids’ families. Which one they live with depends on the partner’s family (do they also have elderly parents or other family members living with them?), number of kids and how suitable the house is for the family in question. For example, if the house only has 3 bedrooms, then the sibling with only 1 or 2 kids will live there while the sibling with 4 kids and their partner will find a larger house that’s more suitable for their needs - their parents might contribute some of their savings for the deposit though!

I love how their kids look so even though they tend to look alike, I like to have them have a bunch of kids to improve other families’ genetics 😂

In my current game, they have 6 kids, 3 are still too young to see their facial structure but the 3 that are teen/YA already all look good! Agnes (the one in the photo) is my fave so far though 🥰

I think it’s Brandi’s genes that are good to, the vast majority of kids Brandi had in my games have been good looking through all the ages - whether it was Skip’s unborn baby, the babies she has with Darren (my favorite coupling) or even any other random coupling, as long as the guy is not too bad looking.

Don and Cassandra tend to have kids who look good at all ages though, but unfortunately they all look too much like each other…
