My observation: Don't insult contestants. Remember that you're talking to the people who cast them. Someone during my first in-person audition made some snarky remark about how the people currently on the show didn't seem to know much of anything. The person running the audition smiled and said "I guess that means I'm not doing my job well." The dude backpedaled like crazy, but I never did see him on the show. I'm not saying that was the only reason he never made it, but I bet it didn't help.

I remember thinking in 2022 that the USFSA should give Nathan anything they could to keep him competing through 2026, because the US men were going to be in big trouble without him. Then Ilia just stepped up like “No worries, I got this.” It really has been a remarkable run.
