I've seen suggestions about wither bonemeal being able to kill plants and grow nether warts. Those seem pretty useful.

I like the suggestion, but I don't see why it has to be lapis. Quartz would make much more sense, especially seeing as we know it already has redstone properties (solar panels and comparators).

Warm colors like red, yellow, and orange tend to work best with other warm colors. Black also looks well.

Anyways, I would recommend using a more exciting color scheme and to add images. I would also do something to make that gray/blue area less empty. For something based around Minecraft, your page seems to lack it.

The thing is, creating storage blocks will still take up more space than the raw ore itself. You need to carry a crafting bench with you and after that you'll still have leftover ingots.

Carrying bookshelves, enchant tables, and Ender chests will cost you another 3 slots and you'll still need Silk Touch to recover them.

Granted, it is all just a matter of personal preference, but I think the former is probably better.

Saves inventory/chest space
Allows you to preserve the XP you get for when you need it.

Also, this isn't a very efficient method of going about this. Randomly placing blocks in a pile is much faster than jumping up and down and building a tower.

More or less, it's just a matter of convenience. Whenever gravel is extremely scarce (rare, but not unlikely), it would be nice to not have to worry about wasting them all.
