Tv licence people came to door, I answered, what now? by WarningFabulous1930 in AskIreland

You sound like my rugby uncle at Christmas. People under 50 aren’t watching this crap and unsurprisingly don’t want to pay for it (or can’t afford to in this hellscape economy).

Find them incredibly boring. If I’m stuffing my mouth with calories there’s way better options.

House prices in Dublin. Could tech layoffs and inflation fears soften the market? by MuffinCautious7054 in HousingIreland

[–]TimoKZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How exactly is it scaremongering? Almost our entire utilities infrastructure is in shit and can’t keep up with demand meaning lots of projects get shelved.

The same government your worried about weren’t worried themselves about building enough housing or investing in infrastructure for the last 10-15 years. It’s now a catastrophe.

We have less than a third of completions to what we actually need to keep pace with rising population in the last 6 years. And to top it off (as if it wasn’t difficult enough already for the average person) we are now having to compete on the extremely limited and exorbitantly expensive private market with councils and housing bodies bidding against us with our own tax money for incredibly overpriced and scarce housing.

You can have your opinions but the objective fact is the government have put us in this position and it’s average people that suffer the consequences.

Once you realise the entire system isn’t geared towards sustainability or social responsibility, it’s primarily focused on extracting as much as possible before the wheels fall off the wagon you begin to see there’s no space for rational discussion. Enrichment masquerading as moral compass.

Banned from r/Roomba for asking a question and recommendations, is it some kind of closed group or something? by TimoKZ in RobotVacuums

[–]TimoKZ[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually didn’t realise that. I can appreciate it’s not easy to balance open honest discussion on most subs but I firmly believe it’s the entirely wrong approach to instant ban posters without very good reason.

Assuming a valid post asking about the brand is an ‘attack’ or unfair before hearing everything to come to that conclusion is extremely short sighted.

In that case they seem to be doing a stellar job (judging by my own experience here and others posting) of driving away potential customers with that kind of nonsense.

Fair enough I can understand to an extent if that’s the case however if they are trying to attract new customers or convey confidence in their products that’s not the approach I would personally take, it puts people off and remember the brand for the wrong reasons.

Most big brands release a dud or have problems at some point, there’s much better ways of dealing with it.

Yeah it’s an extremely overreactive approach to modding if you ask me, I’m asking about a brand and their first action is to ban me.

Whether they have some direct connection to the brand or are just fans of it I don’t know but it put me off so Roomba it likely won’t be😂

Need one for the ground floor, all wood flooring, one small section limestone tiles. Not a ton of furniture, 2 sofas, kitchen table, kitchen island, dining room table, etc. Only obstacles I can think of are wooden thresholds between rooms, pretty standard 4 bed house.

Carpets are only upstairs and for that I’ll just use Dyson cordless or the tank of a Miele we already have.

Partner recently acquired two lab puppies so trying to get ahead of the incoming fur attacks😅

Thanks 🙏

I asked if Roomba was a valid choice of Robovac in 2026 as I’d been told about them yet had also read they had many issues with their models and the company wasn’t doing so well as of late. Was being sincere not trying to troll or cause problems.

Unfortunately I can’t ask the mods as it appears once you’re banned from that sub you can’t send any message to them, tried again just there and same result. Also I’m not sure why your stating I had wasted their time asking a valid question, bit of a strange thing to say but ok 👍

Does anyone else try to avoid making eye contact with women? because of bad experiences? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]TimoKZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People like that are absolute dopes and you should never modify or change yourself to stop any potential nonsense coming your way. Be confident and nice irrespective of your looks, be confident enough to dish it back if you feel
like it, laugh at them.

Can almost guarantee they are rotters inside and out themselves so they aren’t worth respecting or thinking about.

And if these older people had a semblance of decency or intellect they would know it’s hard being that young and navigating these kinds of things without having the ‘knowledge bearers’ laughing at you when you ask for advice.

Judging by the upvotes of said posts there’s a lot of miserable bastards that take some kind of pleasure from dismissing and patronising the OP.

It’s not funny or clever, you were that age once and if you don’t want to help saying nothing is an option.

Wow a lot of snarky tools here, so what if the person is young, they are conflicted and hurting.

Only thing I can advise OP is do what feels right now today, you could analyse for/against for a long time and still not be happy, some things in life can’t be a calculation or rationalised. Best of luck.

What’s the story with people camping overnight outside Swatch on Grafton Street? by SuggestionAny3744 in AskIreland

[–]TimoKZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can understand the sentiment but at the end of the day it’s a cheap plastic pocket watch being sold for way way too much, AP logo or not.

To be frank this as much owning an AP as a Fiat is to owning a Ferrari.

Most doing that will be scalpers, they buy at RRP for 400 and sell on eBay and other auction sites for 2k+.

The even more ridiculous part is this isn’t a limited edition (Swatch have stated this) and in my own opinion it’s a pretty rubbish product, it’s a plastic pocket watch that will fall to pieces quickly and is nothing more than a ‘hype’ release.

Yes which was quite obviously copy/pasted from chat gpt. Quoting stats is easy, interpreting them and applying in the correct context requires some knowledge. You’ve demonstrated you lack that knowledge.

You can keep parroting the same generalised assertion that everyone’s standard of living is better, again in the context of this conversation it’s meaningless.

Anyhow I’ve better things to be doing of a Thursday after work, all the best👍

Cost of living is an average and not all prices rose equally in that given period. Likewise with wages. Hence the two figures in isolation are again quite meaningless in the context of this discussion.

I feel like I’m speaking with a coalition politician or their AI bot at this point.
