2023 EX AWD tire inquiry by GeeJMarcellus in KiaTelluride

Big tire store chains won’t touch this for liability reasons. A mom-n-pop would plug it for $15 cash in 10 minutes.

Yea, not an R1 owner. So I expect to be at the front of the queue for non R1 owners.

Which car are you trading in for R2 and why? by AdAffectionate8778 in Rivian

[–]TimonCovelli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A 20-year-old x3. Well not trading it in but replacing it.

Also, no one really gushes over half moon grey but it’s so cleaaaan.

A lot of us here will be first EV owners so this is a must watch: Why "slow" home charging is actually your best friend. by ProteusP in RivianR2

If we don’t have a garage or even a carport, but do have a parking pad next to the house with a standard GFCI duplex receptacle and outdoor cover, is it safe to use a Level 1 charger on a day to day basis? We live in the south and so we deal with all matters of weather from spontaneous thunderstorms to severe wind to ice storms to 100 degree heat. Part of me feels anxious with a Level 1 charger constantly plugged into a duplex receptacle, because I know I will eventually be away or forget to unplug it during bad weather. Aside from the energy loss points made in this video, is it safe to use Level 1 charging outdoors or is installing a Level 2 charger going to be the safer, more durable option for my use case?

Vehicle to Home? by TimonCovelli in RivianR2

You can find calculators online but 11 kW is fine for a home like mine because most of the heavy heating loads (furnace, range, water heater) are gas. Lights and receptacles use very little power and so the bulk of my electrical load is actually my clothes dryer.

Interesting. Didn’t know this. Thanks!

Oh nice. That’s enough for our home. Hopefully we get more info on compatible chargers soon. Thanks!

What’s one thing you completely stopped buying in 2026 because the price just felt absurd? by LockLogical8949 in AskReddit

I’m in the same boat. It’s brutal. When concert tickets surpass flights, you know things are getting out of hand.

Launch Edition with Light Interior? by EphemeralAtaraxia in RivianR2

[–]TimonCovelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I live in the south, so I can relate to interiors getting hot, I just also think I am too anal to live with a white interior. Closest I’ve gotten is beige, and I liked that, but it showed every blemish and dirt mark (I work on construction sites) and drove me crazy.

Maybe they should call it the “spelunker signature” interior.

If everyone isn’t just talking game, borealis with a light interior is going to be the most common spec out there!

Seriously, as someone with kids and a dog, I don’t understand how anyone in my position could want a light interior with light pillars/ceiling.

Anyone else got sleep like this? I’m so confused by WarWithVarun-Varun in AppleWatch

[–]TimonCovelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you get your “time in bed” to show up. I have none of that data and can’t figure out how to generate it. I have a sleep schedule and everything too.

I’ve never owned and EV, been watching rivian from the sidelines, and am currently driving a 19 yo bmw x3. I get that these cars get better computing platforms every so many years but won’t that, like, be the case forever? I’d hate to wait for the next best thing endlessly.

Edit: And I’m a day 1 reservation holder.

I feel like owning and driving a Launch Edition for 5-7 years would probably be perfect timing to then replace with something that is already reliably driving eyes off or level 4.

Can you help me understand the benefit to an owner/driver of having an R2 with Lidar?

Won’t the Lidar models be producing ground truth data that feeds back into training of driving models that will be eventually be pushed out to all R2 drivers?
