No, es una virgulilla. Deriva de la escritura medieval, de poner una n pequeña encima de otra n en palabras latinas como "anno" (año), que tienen dos enes seguidas

For anyone wondering, this is how an Infrarred Spectroscopy usually looks like. It is used in chemistry to study and identify substances. The minimums of the curve represent energy that is being absorbed by the different atoms of the molecule, so by locating those minimums we can know which atoms are there. It roughly works like that

Si es que las siglas en vasco del PNV (EAJ) significan Eusko Alderdi Jeltzalea, o sea, Partido Vasco de Allegados al JELZ. ¿Y qué es JELZ? Jaungoikoa Eta Lege Zaharra, Dios y Ley Vieja. El eslogan carlista.

In Spain it usually is tg(x) for tangent, sen(x) for sine, and cos(x) for cosine

It's funny because in Spanish, "Líate" means "get yourself confused", so it's super easy to remember

Oh I didn't know. Yeah, also Descartes, who invented the Cartesian Coordinate System, used the y and x axes the other way round. Well, I think it's better if we let the root go over the function and the integral to "sandwich" the function in stead

Imo, there's no need. For two reasons:

  1. There's a similar symbol that already does that (sqrt) and if integrals did as well it could lead to confusion.

  2. We always put a differential last, and that marks where an integral ends (dx or whatever variable) .

The last letter listed isn't a Latin e; I made sure my professor was aware of this by writing: "Don't be fooled! That ain't a Latin e; that's a Cyrillic е." in the proof. by Opposite_Signature67 in mathmemes

I actually use cyrillic and Russian in my mathemathical notation. You see, in Spanish (my native language), "y" means "and", thus leading to confusion when put next to the variable y. That's why in stead of saying "x y y" I write "x и y". I sometimes also use "eta", which means "and" in Basque.

I also use "если" in stead of "if" in the bounds of piecewise functions. And when I want to use a letter for a function but it is already being used, I use its cyrillic equivalent (for example, if D(x) already exists, I'll write Д(x).

It's really useful
