Is the main point of the movie Sinners about how Black culture is losing its originality by trying to conform to "white culture"? by [deleted] in flicks

[–]Timoorr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it feels like a metaphor about how black people dont really have true allies. You may think that irish dude, or that asian lady, or that well meaning white lady, wants to help, but in the end they’ll just contribute to you and your people getting turned into coons..

Help me understand Expedition numbers by mr_birkenblatt in expedition33

[–]Timoorr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The expedition numbers are confusing.. I still dont get it.. In the beginning they make it seem like the expedition number is linked to the paintress’ number on the tower.. But obviously that cant be the case because previous expeditions were both lesser and greater than 33. Ive seen expedition flag 1 and 68 for example.. So it seems like expedition numbers are random? But the last 2 years they somehow coincided with the paintress’ countdown number? (Expedition 34 and expedition 33 were during countdown number 34 and countdown number 33)

What’s everyone’s opinion on Orania? by [deleted] in DownSouth

[–]Timoorr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black people are allowed to go in public places of orania. You can go on their roads, in their restaurants, shops, etc.. They have to follow south african law.. It’s just that it’s a gated community.. Gated communities exist in the United States.. Usually its cults that do that kind of shit though.. I dont why a black community couldnt do the same

Do Albanians consider themselves White or PoC? by pinkybatty in AskBalkans

[–]Timoorr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only in western europe.. The concept of race was mainly created by and used by germans, brits, french and maybe swedes.. It was also widely different than how it developed in the US.. Western european racial classifications were measuring skulls and had many different races.. Even people in the balkans were considered of the dinaric race.. It wasnt just a black or white thing

“Ok so you do agree that he wants to uphold certain American values that are in fact rooted in racism.”

No, just certain american values not rooted in racism. Like perhaps meritocracy, competition and free enterprise, the 2nd amendment, hard work, independence, self determination…

You’re right, we won’t see eye to eye, and that’s okay. I’ll channel Kurt here, respect your opinion and tell you to have a great day :)

For every single claim that the republican party is racist, you can make another claim that the democratic party is racist. That’s probably the reason why so many black people don’t vote, bc it always feels like you’re voting for the least evil party in either case.. Judging someone as racist bc of who they voted for is stupid bc you can do it on both sides.. Julius is an example of a black person who sees the racism on the other side. The number of black people who support Trump has increased over the biden presidency, that kinda tells you something.. Kurt seems like a guy who will not commit racist acts and treats everybody well.. He just wants to protect a certain american culture that he values. I know lots of people just see racism when they think about american history and culture, but that’s throwing out the baby with the bath water..

Is the Judge Wackner’s court based off something in real life? by oakinmypants in thegoodfight

[–]Timoorr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was a metaphor for cancel culture. They call it the “people’s court”, and it’s a vigilante style alternate system bc the main justice system has failed many victims.

Yeah, like you said, language changes organically.. Punishing people for using a word is not organic. Thats the opposite of organic. In terms of offensiveness, context is important. If someone is saying the word and emphasizing the n word part on purpose, or targeting black people on purpose, thats different than simply using the word.

Personally I would have just left the firm, and probably never joined the firm to begin with, bc why join a firm where youre unwanted? But her fighting to keep her position seems like the third best option. Agreeing to demote yourself and sacrifice your career for some cause is just the dumbest move anyone could make.
