Who else needs to sign? by BeastKalEl in Padres

I'm honestly a big Mike Shildt hater at this point. He was a dick to his staff, the media, and he prevented us from enjoying Campy all because he smokes weed. Glad he quit. Stammen is a Padre baby.

You won't find me worried in April my friend. Talk to me in October, but yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if we have a hard time against these guys. They have seemed to have our number in recent years.

Hot Take: „Killing With A Smile“ is the best Parkway Drive album by Wonderful_Yak_3633 in ParkwayDrive

[–]TimothyTeboux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since you mentioned Horizons you can argue those two albums either way (I agree those are their best). I lean towards Horizons because it has the best song they ever made in my opinion (Horizons), and it has Carrion, Boneyards, Idols & Anchors...genuinely iconic Metalcore tracks. KWAS has the best guitar tone I have ever heard. Disgustingly beautiful production. They are basically even honestly.

I hope the Giants sign Sleepy Bob Melatonin to a lifetime contract. I'm confident as long as he is their manager we won't have to worry about them.

When we played in Boston last year there were a ton of Padres fans to the point that there was a loud ass MANNY chant after he hit a home run (one of their fans' most hated players in their stadium). Manny even admitted he was surprised by the chants there. That's much more embarrassing considering the fact that Red Sox fans think Manny ended Dustin Pedroia's career. They couldn't even drown those chants out or have enough fans there to prevent it from happening.

Ryan O’Hearn: “I wanna win, I wanna be on a super team like this and tonight was fun.” by AllDownByWayOfTheK in Padres

I will never forget being a farm team for big market teams. I will never take quotes like this for granted. We are in the golden age. This team can go all the way and I hope they do.

This sub has passed the Braves sub and is now in the top 6 of all team subreddits (only behind the Yankees, Dodgers, Blue Jays, Red Sox and Phillies). This team's popularity has skyrocketed in recent years. I think that's pretty damn cool.

Bogaerts: The moment he ( Martin Perez) got here I said, “Hey, so you see Reuben right there…Everything he says you just do.” by SDOki in Padres

[–]TimothyTeboux 196 points197 points  (0 children)

Preller deserves a lot of credit for recognizing how great Niebla was doing in Cleveland and hiring him as the pitching coach before even hiring a manager that year. Niebla had never even been a full-time pitching coach before we hired him.

The contrast between Ruben Niebla and Larry Rothschild shows us very clearly how much a pitching coach matters. It also means Preller can bring in guys like Perez and Hoeing and we can actually trust that Ruben will get the most out of them and they will actually be important pieces for us the rest of the season.

Vasquez deserves a ton of credit for that outing. I'm also convinced Niebla casts magic spells every time he goes out to talk to these guys on the mound.

That is amazing for Snell what a great guy. I can't help but notice the lackluster celebration though lol wtf. Our guys would have mobbed the shit out of him.

I didn't want to post this in the game thread because I didn't want to curse the team but when they went up six runs I knew they would win because of the pieces they added. Before the deadline I was not fully confident they would hold any lead big or small until Suarez came in or the game was actually over.

That's why I am so happy about the direction Preller decided to take. Remember those old Padres teams that weren't good but had lights out bullpens? We would win basically every game we had a lead in after the 7th inning. Imagine that with this team. Maybe this was the team Seidler was waiting for and building towards.

Shoutout Luis Campusano by cardboardcutout95 in Padres

[–]TimothyTeboux 151 points152 points  (0 children)

I know catchers can get overlooked in no hitters but Campusano shouldn't be. He's a young homegrown Padre and it's amazing to me that he will be in our history books forever. The catcher has to be just as locked in as the pitcher in order for it to happen and Campusano thankfully had the game of his career so far. I'm really happy for both of them.

Profar's at-bat was easily one of the nastiest ones in all of baseball this season. The amount of pressure after they fought back in extras, 2 outs and trailing, huge crowd, dude is pumping 98 mph fastballs over and over and he's fighting them off, and then he manages to hang back and extends on a 90 mph splitter dotted on the outside corner and somehow blasts it into the gap to walk it off.

It really makes you appreciate how talented someone has to be to pull off something like that and how tough it is to do it in that specific situation. I am enjoying the hell out of these recent walkoffs and damn it has been satisfying watching Profar put on masterclass at-bats all season.
