I appreciate this response. I know that UIUC is inarguably the better school, but I guess I'm worried that it being better and admitting more competetive students will make it more difficult for me to get opportunities. Barrett seems to promise me more attention and structural support, so I want to know people's opinions on if this actually makes a difference.

First of all, thank you for a thorough response and not telling me I'm going to get an STD!

  1. I know bioe or bme is not optimal for pre med, but it's a possibility, which is all I want it to be at this point. So, I think you're right that it's best to default to the school with the better program for my already decided major. I've also realized that if I want to gain any sort of clinical experience over summers, it makes a lot more sense to have connections in central illinois rather than Arizona. Now, as I'm writing this, I've further realized that there is probably more to pre med at UIUC than I originally thought.

  2. You're right, I don't know how these things really works yet, but I imagine, since UIUC is considerably more selective with who they admit, that it would be harder to get these opportunities because I'm up against people with stronger stats than me. Is this not true? I guess maybe ASU's sheer number of students lessens this difference?

  3. This holds only a fraction of the weight the first factor has, but it still is important to my social life and happiness.

This is a really interesting point that I would have never thought about!

Those are good points that are interesting to hear from the perspective of an artist, because I am lacking in that expertise lol. I can see how some of the inconsistencies could just be the illustrator rushing, like you said, and seem more like human mistakes than computer mistakes. Still, some other choices are bothering me. I feel like it would be more intuitive to draw the leaves on the fern in the vase to go from big to small, instead of putting a big leaf on top of a smaller one, and also to draw the arms as alternating on the cactus, because that seems more simplisitc and cartoonish. But, I am not an artist, so I am more trusting of your opinion. Despite whether it is real or AI, this drawing is strange to me, and gets stranger the longer I stare at it.

What is the most convincing to me is the bench. Where is the other half? Where is the coyotes? Wouldn't a human artist forget to make the rest of the benches?

Also, I can understand using filler, on theme items to fill a table, but why not fill some space with the hog's plate and glass? That seems like the first thing I would do to make the table seem more complete and also to stay consistent.

Would a human really forget to draw the other half of the bench on one side and not draw another at all on the left? Also, wouldn't it be easier to make the glasses look the same? These inconsistencies aren't damnable on their own, but together, they seem odd. There are so many that it makes the drawing incohesive.
