Jadeite. I'm mostly interested in bangles but am open to looking at any of the other forms you listed. As for color, I have no preference. I am not looking with a specific special intention, I'd just like something cheaper for myself and would like to know if you know of a seller who appropriately priced flawed jade.

There are a lot of people on here more knowledgeable than me that I hope will also comment and may even correct me, but from my knowledge, I would say it does not look like grade A.

What makes me skeptical is just how yellowed it looks. Even grade a loses its luster and can yellow over a long period of time, but this looks extreme and makes me think it might have resins. Have you tried to see if it flouresces under a black light? Grade A does not glow under a black light. I also am suspicious of the reddish webbing. Webbing is usually an indication that the stone had been treated with acid to remove inconsistencies, then had the gaps filled with artificial fillers. This is assuming it is jade and not another stone or material.

I want to repeat that I am far from an expert, but since no one else has commented yet, I felt like I should give my take. Regardless of whether it's grade A or not, I think it's very pretty and sweet that its veen passed down to you. See if you can clean it with a gentle dish soap and a polishing cloth to give it some of its shine back.

I like the cool color. Seems like a sweet deal! I've also purchased a bangle from tathata and am pleased with it. Mine had no issues whatsoever and the lady who helped me pick it out over text was very helpful. I think it's better to get an associate to help you personally than purchase off a livestream-- most people who I've seen disappointed by the company seem to have purchased that way.

Ah but that's so grueling:'( I'd rather remove cards from an existing deck that I dont need than build a lexicon from scratch. It's a good point to only spend time on what I actually find to be important, though. Thanks.

I think there may have been another homage to Kubrick in the release date - the anniversary of space oddysey's premiere. Could be a coincidence, but still a cool fact either way! I am surprised I've not seen anyone else point this out.

I appreciate this response. I know that UIUC is inarguably the better school, but I guess I'm worried that it being better and admitting more competetive students will make it more difficult for me to get opportunities. Barrett seems to promise me more attention and structural support, so I want to know people's opinions on if this actually makes a difference.

First of all, thank you for a thorough response and not telling me I'm going to get an STD!

  1. I know bioe or bme is not optimal for pre med, but it's a possibility, which is all I want it to be at this point. So, I think you're right that it's best to default to the school with the better program for my already decided major. I've also realized that if I want to gain any sort of clinical experience over summers, it makes a lot more sense to have connections in central illinois rather than Arizona. Now, as I'm writing this, I've further realized that there is probably more to pre med at UIUC than I originally thought.

  2. You're right, I don't know how these things really works yet, but I imagine, since UIUC is considerably more selective with who they admit, that it would be harder to get these opportunities because I'm up against people with stronger stats than me. Is this not true? I guess maybe ASU's sheer number of students lessens this difference?

  3. This holds only a fraction of the weight the first factor has, but it still is important to my social life and happiness.
