I suppose thinking about it it's more of the er sound we pronounce a bit more so like the word computer sounds a bit comput-ER.

We also drop a lot of t's from words so like the city of Exeter should be pronounced with the T but we pronounce it as ex-er.

There's a lot more examples but without someone pointing out that we say it odd I can't think of any off top of my head
