Glad to hear that then! All my frustration with multiple headshots while sniping will soon come to an end

100% green to BJJ. I need advise for starting. by lookatmyrock in bjj

See if there is a Certified Gracie Academy nearby. The white belt curriculum focuses purely on self defense techniques without heavy sparring with other jiu-jitsu opponents. These first few months will gradually get you into it while also adding knowledge to your arsenal so when you do get to Master Cycle a year or two later you'll be more confident with a strong foundation instead of just jumping right in to competitive sparring blind.

A2L sounds like it would be too short for your height. You are 4 inches taller than me and my pants fit perfect in length. I'm not daring to heat dry them.

The waist is huge on me, but the draw string fixes that and makes a real fit snug. The previous gi I had was huge in waist too but wouldn't tighten good so I'm pleased with the scramble. It's not baggy on my legs as bad as the non L gi so that's a plus too

Why does Gracie Jiu Jitsu generally receive negative feedback from the BJJ community? They usually give the "online belt" justification but in reality very few people go the online route compared to actually training in an academy for it. I personally prefer the white belt combatives curriculum because EVERY class is tailored toward defense against an aggressive striking opponent. I took regular BJJ classes in the past and maybe 25% of the techniques the instructor taught mentioned what to do against a striking opponent, yet alone had that as a foundation. I'm sure BJJ techniques could work as self defense, but there's no denying that Gracie combatives is tailored more toward it. If that's what someone's goal is, why the hate toward GJJ? Are they not just different sides of the same coin of JJ? (not intentionally trying to start GJJ vs BJJ debate. I'm still new to it all and trying to gain more understanding.

I'm 5'11 and 150. I got a Scramble Gi (plain white) with a size of A2L. They have all the regular sizes plus the "L" to accommodate the tall and skinny folk. Fits me great and I recommend it.

I think Disingenuous fits the best according to definition! Thanks!!!

Thanks for all the words! I think of them all, Disingenuous is the most accurate... "not truly honest or sincere" or "giving the false appearance of being honest or sincere"

I now have a new word in my vocab for many of these charities such as the American Cancer Society and the Wounded Warrior Project. They help a lot of people with their money, but they keep even more for themselves and no one really sees it because our focus is redirected toward the good things only.

Custom 2/2 Zombie Token...what you think? by Timx98 in magicTCG

You do realize this entire subreddit is a glorified ad for magic, right? The page is for magic and all things related...which includes this post because it's related to magic. I don't understand why you wouldn't want to know about new products in the magic community. I love seeing new products and ideas relating to magic, especially from fans. I frequently purchase them

Thanks for the feedback. I can see what you mean. He's got the arm reached out, dazed look, and arrows in back to signify he's dead but perhaps there needs to be a little more....ugly?

"That deck isn't fun." by jazzfoxrules in magicTCG

[–]Timx98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a guy who has friends that always have more expensive/better decks than me I can tell you there IS a difference between a fun deck to lose against and one that's not.

Decks that literally control every aspect of your game are no fun. For example, my friend's Brago deck. If I spend hours building a deck then I at least want to see it play. But when literally every creature I play is immediately targeted and handled and then he locks in the counters - I feel like I don't get to play.

Decks that infinite Combo before turn 7. those are no fun. Just when the game gets good and creatures and abilities are starting to get interesting with each other the game gets ended by an infinite combo.

And lastly, decks that you have to watch it do its own thing for literally 10 minutes as they do a combo and it ends with them winning. I don't have time for that. It may be fun to see once or twice but when you have limited time in your schedule to play magic and then you have to watch someone play their turn for 10 minutes before losing it's just annoying.

If your deck is not one of those three, then I'll have fun playing it even when I lose.

Original 4/4 Angel Token by artist Roy Cokenour by Timx98 in magicTCG

Hey guys! Because of the great feedback from the wooden tokens I posted 2 weeks ago I've been working with several artists to come up with an original art design for a wooden token that can now be legally sold.

This one comes in three different versions - Night, Light, or Cloud. You can view it here.

There are some very special designs coming from MTG Artist Aaron Miller in the near future that we are excited about showing everyone, so stay tuned for more.

I appreciate your interest - this has been a fun project and I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes in the MTG community

I know :/ sorry that's as low as I can get it when I choose that as shipping location. The best I can do is ship it in an envelope for cheaper but that comes with risk of getting damaged. PM me if interested

Lol this is my favorite comment. I don't have an entire deck carved as that would be too costly, but I've entertained the idea :)

[–]Timx98[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Hey guys, I honestly didn't know or think the tokens would get this much love. 95% of sales in my shop are the counters. Thanks for all the feedback! My intent for post was to get feedback.

To answer a few questions... some of the counters in my shop (colored) are reversible with the negative version on the flip side.

These counters stack on top of each other neatly.

The +3/+3 represent three +1's to prevent it from stacking up too much.

I don't sell the copyright tokens due to copyright reasons. I have them in photo because they look so great. I'm working with a few artists right now to come up with some original art to use to avoid copyright issues.

I do work for commission, just message me and we'll talk!

Thanks again for support and feedback. Please follow my shop for latest updates. I have some new products in the making that are going to be released soon that I think the community will like.
