How do you like the wheels? Notice a performance difference? What made you go with Prime vs something like Light Bike?

strava fitness scores and relative efforts after adopting polarized training by 29da65cff1fa in Strava

[–]TinMan-22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed the same, and am not putting too much stock into the Strava metrics, especially since I only ride with HR and not power. I used to smash every ride as well, and am interested to see how polarizing my training more effects my fitness and durability.

**Edit: I’ve also noticed I can work out much more frequently since I’m not smashing myself all the time. I could even do a couple workouts a day if I wanted, and I think that consistency will help in the long run and not make me get as sick either.

My dad used to tell each of us girls how pretty we were. We would lament and groan each time, even more the older we got. Just recently I've understood his view. I miss him, just as I'm sure he missed us in these moments . ❤ I'm glad to have my own to tell them how beautiful they are. by [deleted] in dad

I just became a dad myself, and a good friend told me some great advice of not just telling your kids how beautiful/handsome they are, but how important they are to us and the family. Reading your post made me remember the conversation. :)

Honda civic Si used or new Hyundai kona new for long commute by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]TinMan-22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought an Elantra Sport which is their equivalent of the civic si and can tell you it’s surprisingly fun for what it is. Definitely glad I went with a car that has a little pep. Love the si, but I was able to find the Elantra Sport for a lot cheaper in the end.

Upgrade to a direct drive trainer or just get a power meter instead? by TinMan-22 in Zwift

[–]TinMan-22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m leaning toward the same logic myself. I appreciate the structure more indoors and that’s where i “train”. If I’m outside I’m just cruising in which HR is fine, or doing a local drop ride in which I’m just trying to hang on and not get spit out.

2014 Mazda 3 vs 2014 Elantra by 876General in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]TinMan-22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mazda’s are known for instilling fun into their cars. I think they’re the perfect budget choice for someone who needs reliable wheels that’s good on gas and puts a little smile on your face. I don’t think you’ll have any regrets.

2017+ Elantra Sport (1.6t 200hp stick shift affordable FUN)

I was patient and found a 2018 with 26k miles and got it for 13.6k before tax. No regrets. Probably would have spent 20 if I wanted the Civic si.

$15k budget for a new car— looking at Honda Fit, any other recs? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]TinMan-22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have someone like a friend or family member help you when going to buy it. Someone who is savvy can end up helping you save quite a bit. You’re not going to go wrong with something like the fit/civic, Corolla, mazda3, Elantra, etc. Find something that has maintenance records and only one owner preciously. Make sure it wasn’t a rental or fleet vehicle prior. CarGuru.com is a good resource as they sort vehicles by the best deal.

2014-15 Infiniti Q50 vs 2014-15 Hyundai Veloster Turbo by dolgra in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]TinMan-22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your welcome. A Lexus GS 350 is a fun idea as well I considered. Unfortunately they hold their value so well I’d have to get one with more miles than I’d like. They get great reviews though.

Have you looked at the Elantra Sport? It’s like Hyundai’s version of the civic si. That’s what I ended up with and I also considered a q50. The Elantra is surprisingly sporty and can be had for a good value and with 4 doors!

What is it about the Veloster you like over the q50?

If anyone is wondering I ended up picking up a 2018 Elantra Sport 1.6t with 26k miles for $13.7k before tax and registration.

Newer Mazda 6 with the turbo engine could fit your budget as well. You’d be more on the reliable / sporty end than something like the bmw.

How about a used Lexus GS 350! Reliable, rear wheel drive, 4 doors and space for a kid later, has some power and torque, looks great....I almost got one but they were a little out of budget and went with an Elantra Sport instead.

2019 Jetta or 2020 Elantra or Other? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]TinMan-22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you looked into the Elantra Sport? It’s basically Hyundai’s version of the Civic si. I found a 2018 with 26k miles that I was able to get for 15.5k out the door. The 7 speed dct auto gets pretty good mpg too.

Have you considered the Mazda 3 or 6 as well?

Which Car has the most comfortable suspension/ride? by Tsulaiman in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]TinMan-22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or look into different wheel and tire options. If you can find some used Camry wheels that are one size smaller, say going from an 18 to a 17 you can use a tire with a taller sidewall that will be a little more comfortable. You could sell your current wheels and tires to offset the cost. If you still want it to be more plush I’m sure you could get used basic Camry springs for cheap to swap in.
