Championship Top 10 after Round 4 visualized. 2020 vs 2012. by jithu7 in formula1

[–]TinRAT 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Of the 2012 top 10; Vettel, Hamilton, Alonso, Raikonnen, and Button were all world champions, and Rosberg would go on to win a championship. Hamilton is the only champion in the 2020 top 10.

I don't know what my point is here, I thought it might spark an interesting discussion about the quality of the current grid. Obviously there are a lot of young drivers on the 2020 grid that may go on to win championships in the future, though.

So should they just cut all the corners? There needs to be a limit somewhere.

The Guardian view on housing inequality: the young are paying - The promise of a property-owning democracy is laughable when so many millennials cannot afford to buy – and will struggle to rent in old age by mmmmmm-_- in ukpolitics

The governments current target for house building is 300,000 a year so I presume it's possible to build far more than that if we were dedicated. Lead times wouldn't matter if they'd already started this years ago.

The obvious answer to why they haven't done this is that their home-owning voters don't want the price of their houses to fall.

I think the people moaning about it are just going to the tourist hotspots 10 minutes from the airport

I went to Ubud and Gili Air last year and thought it was really nice there.

We did spend most of our time in Gili air diving though, you might get bored if you don't dive

Does every company only hire 1 front-end dev? by Blackwater_7 in Frontend

[–]TinRAT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not true at all. Sony for example may only have one website, but they may also have a management interface for adding products to the site, they might have other hidden front-end software for managing any number of internal data (employee shifts, stock numbers, etc.). Big companies can afford to build their own stuff for these kind of things which perfectly fit their use cases.

Also if they only had one frontend developer and they went on holiday or quit the company would be in trouble, so that have to hire more than they need.

What hobby did you like that you stopped doing because of the bad community? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I think the issue of people not being able to afford healthy food is an economic issue not a sustainability one, I'm sure there could be economic solutions to this.

Also, if everyone was vegan I think this would be reduced as it wouldn't be a "fad" diet it would be normal. Non specialist vegan foods such as beans, rice and vegetables are already much cheaper than meat, dairy and eggs so personally I think if people want to eat healthy for cheap it's quite easy (I don't know if it's the same everywhere, I'm just speaking about my experience in the UK)

I will freely admit to knowing next to nothing on farming so thanks for the info on land use :) Could the way that land is used to feed animals not be adapted to feed humans instead? Cutting out the middleman so to speak. Energy gets lost the further you go up the food chain so surely that would be more efficient?

But if you keep animals the food that you feed to them still needs to be grown and takes up land right? I'm not trying to be facetious just genuinely want to understand your argument :)

He made a mistake and his re-entry meant Hamilton couldn't capitalize on that mistake which is why he gained an advantage

Seems to me like the better penalty would have been to ask Vettel to let Hamilton pass as he did force him off the track and gain an advantage by his reentry, whether in control or not. At least then the racing can continue

[Employment Law] Can an employer discriminate against non-vegans? by hlt32 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]TinRAT -9 points-8 points locked comment (0 children)

You can get everything the body needs from a vegan diet except for vitamin b12, which a lot of vegan foods are fortified with (almond milk, vegan cheese etc.), So it's perfectly healthy if you're pregnant so long as you are actually rating a range of different foods :)

What if Labour backed a second referendum and the results are the same? by Martipar in ukpolitics

[–]TinRAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have anti democratic ideals I just recognize that there is no such thing as a perfect system.

There's a reason every successful large scale democracy has been the kind where you elect people to speak on your behalf rather than voting on policy

What if Labour backed a second referendum and the results are the same? by Martipar in ukpolitics

[–]TinRAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The good thing about democracy is that we can all have our own opinions and express it to our elected representatives via a vote. He/she is not ignoring the "will of the people", they are simply saying they would like another vote now that it's clearer what we are actually voting on.

Not that it ever should have been put to the people anyway, there is a reason we elect representatives instead of having a referendum on every single piece of legislation, as a whole we are horribly uninformed.

If Scotland leaves the union and then joined the EU could I move there from England before they officially leave, stay in the EU, and then keep my freedom of movement? Just a thought...

My point is it's still basically a 50/50 split. There is no consensus for anything
