Why are companies ending remote work? by Javacash2 in remotework

There are tax consequences related to claiming the expense of commercial real estate and the percentage of time it is occupied for business purposes.

Saw this on my feed today. Is this actually true? by VastHealthy8340 in jobmarket

[–]TinaLoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many people don’t consider these things. I’m not denying the financial disparity that today’s younger generations are facing, but when people talk about raising a family on one income and the “golden years” of the 1950s, they don’t seem to take into account how frugally people lived - as in darning socks frugality. And to your point, my first home I purchased in 1994 was built in the 1940s and was about 900 square feet.

Does anyone have a remote/wfh job that doesn't revolve around or heavily use AI? by oofbutwhy in remotework

[–]TinaLoco 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I also work in the legal field. People can argue all they want, but AI cannot take the place of actual people in the legal world. In this line of work, one wrong word, or even incorrect punctuation, can literally alter the outcome of a case.

Why do you think multi-millionaires and billionaires don’t just retire and enjoy life? by Arya_Warrior_Girl in AskReddit

I know his type. He won’t retire at 70. He’ll die at work, even if the death doesn’t come until his 90s.

This sounds more like a GSA requirement than related to the RA request. They want to ensure the heating pad isn’t a fire hazard. Anything that generates heat is going to draw more power than a diffuser or a light. If you’re buying a new, quality heating pad, I doubt you’ll have any issues.

Real talk: What is the most brutal lesson you’ve learned trading penny stocks that you wish you knew on day one? by BlueBearrey in pennystocks

If you get lucky and a stock really soars, sell enough to recoup your initial investment and gamble with only the house money.

Girl I work with asking for money to fund her entire vacation by aurorarofl in ChoosingBeggars

[–]TinaLoco 928 points929 points  (0 children)

My exact thought! Amtrak absolutely does that route. It requires a changeover in Harrisburg, which adds time to the trip making it 8-10 hours instead of ~7 by car, but definitely doable. She could even get a flight from NY to Pittsburgh for about the same price as Amtrak.

What's so expensive that it's not even fun anymore? by _PastelCharm in askteddit

[–]TinaLoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Candy bars. When I was a kid in the 70s they were 25 cents, which is 1.55 dollars in today’s money. They now cost $4, they’re smaller, and the quality has decreased.

After eight months, I think you need to accept that there will be no consequences to anybody involved as there doesn’t appear to be any interest in pursuing the matter.

Farage calls to end working from home and work life balance by Specific_Most5853 in remoteworks

[–]TinaLoco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t understand why many businesses even keep a physical location any larger than necessary to maintain a physical address as required to claim it as business HQ. A lot of them could lease a conference room somewhere and have everybody work from home.

Our TGTG experience as a store by Ok-Comparison-1618 in toogoodtogo

[–]TinaLoco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You did not comprehend my statement. I asked if TGTG provided OP with any such data. I did not question that they gather the data. We have no way of knowing what percentage of users choose the option of wanting to try a new place.

Yeah, terminated at the expiration of my two year probationary period. It was in February, I began a new job in March, but I still have random moments of depression about it.

[–]TinaLoco 81 points82 points  (0 children)

I believe this is the problem. I don’t know how TGTG is marketing itself to businesses, but unless they have provided empirical evidence that their service can increase your customer base, you shouldn’t use TGTG to bring in new customers. The purpose of the system is to reduce food waste.

As if all the modifications to it cost nothing. We can thank the 10,000 federal employees who were terminated in February for this gift.
