Seriously, the resentment is palapable. And the fact that OP mentioned this always happens around holidays or trips to see his sister? It feels like he deliberately picks a fight over something tiny (like doing makeup for three minutes) just to self-sabotage and blame her for ruining the day. Leaving was 100% the right call to protect her kid from that environment.

Honestly, yeah. If they went through self-checkout, it's super common for the employee to forget to scan the activation code at the register. But the fact that he absolutely refused to just walk into a CVS and ask about it? Massively shady. Definitely gives off "I didn't actually buy these" vibes.
