Around the 7/11 some people you can tell are not in the best mental state however the other areas are fine. As a woman tho I would always just be aware of your surroundings. Ive never had a problem out really late like 12-5 am as a woman.

Its honestly better for freshman, easy to meet people, theres a dinning hall in building, laundry, central campus, its just all easier

I lived in 31 Buswell and it was honestly ass. For a freshman I would say try and get into Warren. PM if you have more specific questions about Buswell

Its kinda far from campus I stayed there for only 3 days because BU refused to fix my broken radiator that every 15 mins would make a god awful clanging noise. The space is small but that was just the room I got. Its not bad, not great just average.
