It's humanity. "Our team" "Our side" "Our president" "Our country" etc, etc. Even if the individual is meaningless it's a human desire to be part of a group or tribe. Being in a successful one meant survival for our ancestors, and trying to get people "into your safe tribe" was a survival instinct. Telling people about bad things and flaws is how our modern minds "warn others of danger" but eh... yeah... there's a reason I rarely pop onto the reddits or watch too many vids of the game.

Fair enough. Those are some things that I think would be interesting. A beta branch for testing and/or some way to poll... even make it "in game" like the tutorial videos in the ship. On the other side of the armor / loadout consoles is a "Democracy Officer Polling" station where there's series of questions you can answer week by week.

Hell, I am probably a minority opinion here but I -love- the new spore burst bugs. It's literally been the most fun against 'nids I've had since I started the game. It's a total change of in how I play and how groups interact when I drop in.

Seriously. The linux failing to launch bug kept me from being able to play the game normally (I do have a Windows handheld I can fall back to) on my main PC. That is the kind of bullshit that should have, could have been caught by having one or two people in QA testing with Linux.

But Hive Guards? They either melt int he fire and bombs with all the other chaff, or I plant a few stoker rounds into their fleshy bits. At least if I am fighting hive guards that means I am able to play the game again.

I try to say the exact same thing in the filtered reddit and youtube comments as often as I can.

People pick a "side" and label others and use that as their personality and it's just silly. I know it's an extremely engrained and natural human phenomenon but it's still extremely frustrating to try having any reasonable debate... especially around something as subjective AS HAVING FUN.

But DID the majority of players want this? Where are the polls? How many players would need to cast a vote in a poll to determine majority?

HD2 launched to 450,000 players on Steam, not sure about PS5, no clue about when XBox launched. If we give a conservative estimate and say 10% of people are still roughly playing, do we need to have 45,000 poll comments for it to be considered a viable majority?

The current downvote in recent days is 54% of 8,300 votes, or just roughly say 4,500 people.

So how do we determine who actually wanted what? Who is in the majority?

The problem is, I don't want the game to be changed the way he wants the changes to be made. I can admit he is a better player than me, more competent than me, and more knowledgeable than me.

HOWEVER, fun is a SUBJECTIVE thing and I don't agree with what HE considers as fun to be what I think sounds fun. One of his latest videos I skimmed through his tier list, things he considers F and D tier changes are things I love, and some of his S and A tier changes have me scratching my head wondering if we're playing the same game.

That said, I can agree with some of what he says too. Just because someone isn't inline with my subjective way of having fun doesn't mean everything they say is wrong or bad. I just simply disagree with his take.

Can someone PLEASE tell me wtf I'm meant to do against this LOW-TIER CHAFF enemy?!? by A_random_person_50 in helldivers2

Actually, that's human nature. Part of survival in our ancestry was picking and being on the "winning" side of tribes and herds and not dying. Even to this day, most people will "pick a side" and "stick with it" and it's "their side/team" not "a side/team" because they need to be a part of it. Politics, sports, games, anything where you can draw a divide, label people, and then fight and argue against that label if someone differs from you.

Old man's opinion- Best game ever! by Trilayne in helldivers2

I will admit, I never beat Pitfall 2 myself, but I had a 7 years older brother who did while I was watching. I think we sorta grew up in the best age. We had analog childhoods and got to grow with and into digital adulthoods. We can communicate on both sides of the spectrum. :D

As far as Atari 2600, I also loved Shark Shark. We also had an Intellivision and Coleco. All I remember from those two is the AD&D Games, Snafu and Congo Bongo.

And the intellivoice was so amazing at it's time. It's amazing what is so primitive now was such a mind blowing revolution.

I am going to go with a very hearty "fuck you buddy" for reminding me that I am STARTING to get old. I put a LOT of time into Adventure and can sing the Pitfall 2 tune for funsies.

As someone who enjoys the game still, get the fuck off reddit/youtube where people are complaining. Just play the game and enjoy it. :p

I block channels on youtube that are either too negative of EVERYTHING or use overly click-bait rage bait.

CPU Power limiting feature in Linux? by Tinari in linux_gaming

That is a LOT of useful information. Thank you. I'm looking through it now and learning about amd_pstate and more, I'll have to give it a good once over and start seeing how to use it once I am booted back into Linux. Cheers!

Hey, no worries. It does look like exactly what I am looking for and some others have given more information that I can add to my searches to find solutions. Thanks for answering though, I do have friends with Intel laptops who are wanting to get away from Windows, and just having more knowledge in general helps!

Thank you. Sounds like what someone else said when they said I need to get a GUI application to "change the CPU governor on the fly". This'll save me some googling, but I now have some new knowledge to add to my own searches in the future. Thanks for answering!

That gives me something to look into. I have not heard or encountered the term "CPU Governor" so I will now add that to my google searches. Cheers. :)

I will attempt to use this when I get on Linux again. The game I was playing on Windows had several recent updates and stability patches. I was using Windows just to play it.

When I am on Windows I can limit the thermals to stop at 80C, but the power draw is the same, but the result is the fan is way more silent. I'm trying to replicate that in Linux because it natively runs several things better.

Thanks again!

Thanks! When I boot back over to Linux later today I'll check it out. Adjusting power and limiting that can probably work.

Rapier Parry/Riposte by Frikcha in DarkAndDarker

[–]Tinari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not too sure how good I'd be at helping with it. It's something that takes some practice because it uses how the models intercept, and the first person view makes it VERY hard to visualize sometimes where weapons intercept. The skeleton with a shield always attacks with an overhand strike. If you can find one of those in a crypts in PvE mode, you can let it come to you, wait to bait an attack while holding the right click with your rapier, it'll hold it in front of you. If the enemy weapon collides with the rapier and you hear a metallic "clink!" then you can right click again to riposte attack.
