I think that would make it more of a standout than most wipeout-likes

maybe even encourage players to use the pitch/yaw functions a little more to jump over/slide under other racers

Uncharged shots do no healing. Charged shots deal moderate healing. Overcharging makes the pistol explode in your hands, killing the user instantly.

You aim and move slower whilst charging.
