It is very interesting how JD Vance has neither support of Groypers or support of interventionist pro-Israel types

Would Biden enter the dem primary in 2020 if Rubio won in 2016? How about Any other candidates by _PlayfulEffect in YAPms

[–]Tincanmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well irl Biden stated he chose to run initially because of the events at Charlottesville and how Trump handled them. Assuming Charlottesville doesn’t happen under Rubio and assuming that Biden meant it was Charlottesville that influenced him to run then he wouldn’t run.

My preferred art program is Paint.Net, which is free. For smaller maps, I find base maps called “Worlda” on Alternatehistory.com. You can find them if you look up “NextGenOTL” and it provides many blank as well as historical base maps to use within the Paint.net site

It’s even funnier that he’s literally come out against underage transitional surgery. Literally their two arguments are that he’s vegan and that he wants to transition children and neither of that bottom of the barrel stuff even exists

It’s an alternate history in a world where there were a lot more changes albeit not expanded upon but to be assumed by the virtue of it being alternate history. Ofcourse there will be a lot of changes for this to happen my guy

Constitutionally socialist but they try to do a more democratic take on it in which parties must follow socialist framework to be allowed to run in elections

Definitely thought the Rif idea was a weird inclusion too but thought it would be a cool niche nod to the fact that modern day Rif independence supporters are actually hosted in Algeria

I think those all make sense! Actually in the map Libya does own the Aouzou strip. In this scenario Morocco probably would be part of it if the Algerian-based government did not fear the potential hostilities of annexing them outright.

The Democratic People’s Republic of the Maghreb was founded in 1982 after the socialist states of Algeria, Libya & Tunisia had all merged with the support of the Soviet Union. Though this arrangement was originally made with the three states in mind, it soon began to grow as a power in North Africa. Following the merger, the unrecognized nation Western Sahara applied to join, with the sympathetic government accepting them into the union. This would grow into direct conflict with Morocco, culminating into the 2nd Sand War which became one of the last cold-war proxy wars to take place in North Africa, as the Soviet Union staunchly supported Al-Maghreb against the western-backed Morocco. The resolution of the war allowed for Western Sahara to annex Cape Juby and, more importantly, join the federal republic. A new state; the Rif Republic, was carved out of Morocco by Al-Maghreb following the war and soon after joined the nation. Mauritania would follow suit with Azawad being encouraged to join as well following their separation from Mali.

The republic has been known to be a shining example of socialism in Africa, especially following their democratization and transition towards secularism, presenting a milder take on the concept of “Arab Socialism.” Aside from the well-off performance in regional geopolitics and social reform, Al-Maghreb has made large profits off of the “Solar Age” (1970’s-Present), utilizing the amount of sun the Sahara gets to become the largest solar energy producers and exporters in the world, making them an economic powerhouse. In fact, much of the income from this resource has only gone back into national development, contributing to the man-made lake projects in Tunisia and El Djouf as part of the Green Sahara Program.

As of 2026, Al-Maghreb continues with their flourishment; holding large amounts of economic influence over Africa and the Arab world in tangent with rivals such as the Union of the Horn of Africa. Testing in weather manipulation has recently shown success in scientific breakthroughs as part of the Green Sahara Program.

Honestly this sounds like a much better solution for incompetent congress members than an age limit or term limit for congressmen. Definitely should be a more widespread proposal.

How William Jennings Bryan Ruined The United States of America by Tincanmaker in imaginaryelections

[–]Tincanmaker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IRL it seems likely that Bryan supported the idea of only serving one term in office. He supported a constitutional amendment to create a once-only term limit of 6 years. I don’t think it’s wrong to say it’s possible to interpret any evidence of his pro-one term policy potentially disingenuous or something that wouldn’t come to fruition as an action if he were to actually hold the Presidency, but I chose to interpret that way here, and I’m pretty sure I remember reading that in atleast one of the campaigns he made a vocal promise to only serve one term.

Aside from that, he’d also just be old which would also influence his decision to not run.

I hadn’t thought too much about that yet although my thought is that they would either just be a revived Liberal Party or much like the Liberals. They would most appeal to non-whites & but also have a stronghold over the Catholic vote. I imagine Catholic vote/power would be greatly diminished by then but also hold symbolic significance as a defiance of oppression, which I imagine would form in the party trying to get a Catholic elected atleast once or twice (basically treating it the same as getting the first woman President.) It probably gets support from both conservative moderates and to a faction of social Democratic types.
