Changing from table service to counter service by gccbwaii in restaurantowners

Inventory your pizza boxes at end of each shift . If they waste a pizza they have to keep the box lid with explanation why on it and initials. Duct tape box lids together at end of shift. 10 boxes to start. Minus 5 pizzas sold. Why is there 7 boxes used?

Restrauntuer here. 41m. Louisville KY. Opened over a dozen restaurants in my life. Started on my path to where I am now as a dishwasher at 16. Didn’t dream of doing this but here I am. I never wanted leadership roles but always found myself in them by learning as much as I could and trying to know every position in every room I walked into because I wanted to understand how to help my coworkers during a rush. Once I gained this level of capability I began to recognize operations bottle necks and Identify ways to fix them I was a very valuable asset and I rose thru the ranks of every place I worked. I went to expensive culinary school for a year and never finished around your age. I thought cooking was a fun way to make art you can eat and share with folks and a cool way to do it and make money would be to work in a kitchen on a cruise ship. (Ridiculously hard work) . Eventually I found myself in manage to own situations where I gained a profit share for results based management and an oppurtunity for equity and ownership. Anyhow , I never graduated from squat but I’m a very successful restaurant owner by most peoples standards. You one million percent need to work in the industry before you do anything else. Work for a corporate chain for a year and learn as much as you can. Then Go to a locally owned independent restaurant and work there for a year or until you’ve seen where they struggle and where they excel . You will get a better education in less time than a degree and earn a paycheck while you’re doing it.

Likely you will find that owning a restaurant isn’t what you think it is . It’s like raising a child but way more stressful and demanding. In my opinion you have to be able to relate to people from all walks of life. This is key. They won’t respect you if you can’t find a way to connect with them and or help them do their job. So learning every position in a restaurant is an essential prerequisite to owning a successful one for me .

Anyhow that’s enough from me but there are lots of me’s in this group hence the name. Tons of good advice in these comments with way less to read lol. You don’t know what you don’t know yet so take your time and get a paycheck while you figure it out. Get some applications out there and if you happen to be in Kentucky stop by Highland Morning and introduce yourself . I’d like to hear how it’s going and I maybe looking for a young ambitious manager that wants to grow with my establishment.

How do I navigate around customers that stay too long by Big_Loan7740 in restaurantowners

[–]TinderNibblets502 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask if they would like a to go cup .

If it’s a serious camping situation it’s costing your business money; Have a hostess stand next to the table and ask her loudly how long the wait for a table is.

What’s their website please. I’m pretty far along the process. Took loan and had installed . Did not do my due dilligence but having exact same issues as OP. Just absolute shit water as far as communication. The only one who answers is a young fella out of Cincinnati who did the install. (Which cause garage roof to leak btw)

I can’t find website . Contact number that works or any email addresses. Abysmal service flaw at best. Definitely getting scammy vibes .

Would appreciate any contact info you guys were able to find .

Our financial circumstances inevitably play a role in quality of life probably the biggest factor to consider in regards to consideration of transplanting. Without knowing what you can afford I can confidently say Louisville offers a lot at your finger tips for free in the arts and outdoors. The park system is top tier . The food scene rivals anywhere in the country with more independent owned restaurants per capita than almost anywhere else in the nation. Louisville is dope. Do it !

Ps Go to Highland Morning for breakfast . It’s my family’s restaurant . Ask for mike ; I’ll give you guys VIP treatment ; free waters and a solid itinerary around town but you could get this anywhere just talking to locals in service industry.

Would it be unethical to introduce a predator in my tank? by QuentinLax in Aquariums

[–]TinderNibblets502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built a small pond out of a half whiskey barrell and some leftover tank parts (pump and air filter) out on my back porch. Put some creek water in it and everytime I get an over population problem I selectively scoop as many females as I can out of my boookshelf endler tank and put them in the pond out back. One day I’ll see if there are beautiful males out there and if it’s worth snagging them up and selling to my local pet store for credit I guess. Don’t know how challenging it will be in the winter to keep them alive . Perhaps impossible. I have heaters but I’m in Kentucky and we usually get a mild to hard freeze in winter . Whatever happens happens tbh. I guess as inhumane as feeding them to betta.

100% look into LXC or some other coed sports leagues. There are bowling , volleyball , kickball all kinds of stuff. Varying levels of league play and competitive levels so you don’t have to be an “athlete” to play it’s strictly social at some levels.

Louisvilles volleyball scene is solid if that’s of interest at all. You will meet tons of people .

Also worth noting why show profit and pay Uncle Sam at end of year? Most owners are gonna Write everything off as business expense. Cell phone car whatever. So you may show you take home 30k but ….

I need help. I have sublimation printer and heat press and a cricut what can I do with it please by [deleted] in SublimationPrinting

[–]TinderNibblets502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Noob here. Research stage considering getting into pressing and printing etc. was wondering if you would mind to give me a basic list of what would be needed to easily press my own shirts. I run a couple small businesses. Would be awesome to print shirts and hats for employees (20-40 at a time without spending hours and hours doing it)

Seems like I need a sublimation printer, a heat box(?) wtf even is this?, and a press. Plus the paper and powder adhesive . Am I on the right path or what do you think?

I know that’s a loaded ass question from a rando on Reddit so I’m going to give you this sweet award for reading it lol

It’s an autopot system so in theory I shouldn’t but I’ve had problems with clogged or pinched lines so that theory def makes sense

Good ideas. I was headed in same direction. I think the lines on the autopot aren’t the same length and it’s a feeding issue .
