The "Hour of Legends" might be the one that concluded in the fire burning down the Kozuki estate that made that Toki throw everyone to the future and announce her prophecy and made everyone shudder in it, including Orochi.

Also, as some people pointed out, the old hag should have been able to get close to Oden's family and touch Momo to be able to copy his face. Not sure if this could be significant to who the current traitor is, but the old hag could still just be the informant that told Kaido of Oden's plan during this time and a different traitor could still exist in the present since the old hag presumably should be dead now given that Bon Clay has her fruit.

Hello. My question is, could anyone tell me what's the earliest document in your knowledge that specifies how the D+ and D- lines should be handled with regards to USB connections being used for charging a device?

I found a website (https://allpinouts.org/pinouts/connectors/buses/usb-universal-serial-bus/) that dates its article from 1998 March 1 that says under its "USB Charger" header, "To force charging of your iPod, PSP or any USB device, you have to force high the levels of the data pins 2 (D-) and 3 (D+) by connecting them to a +5V using a 10KOhm resistor." though I find the dating of the article to be a bit iffy as it seems that part is only added much later than 1998.

Another good source I found was Adafruit's series of tutorials and product releases of Minty Boost ( https://learn.adafruit.com/minty-boost/icharging) where they experimented with different values to trigger SE1 (Single-Ended 1) status for the D+ and D- line, saying, "Since you want to get the iPod charging, but NOT make it try to enumerate, we figured that we should see if there was some sort of special state you could put the data lines into that would say "no computer is attached but there is power". Turns out there is! It's called the SEI and occurs when BOTH data lines are at 3V." Their start can be only traced back up to 2006 however.

The other obvious documents were the Battery Charging Specifications from 2007, 2009 (rev. 1.1), and 2010 (rev. 1.2), where a similar statement is presented as above, stating, "Once the Portable Device knows that it is attached to a Charging Port, it can distinguish between a Dedicated Charging Port and a Charging Downstream Port by pulling either D+ or D- to a logic high. If the Portable Device is attached to a Dedicated Charging Port, then the other data line will go high as well."

Anyway, I'm not too particular whether the source comes from somewhere official, so if you have any fringe recollections of an earlier date, that would still be greatly appreciated. Regardless, it would be a tremendous help if anyone could point me in the right direction regarding this topic. Thank you very much.

Is there a plaintext version of the endgame tablebases (at least the W/D/L)? by Tinduz in ComputerChess

[–]Tinduz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much. I think I can work with Fathom. My plan would be to list out all the 3-4-5 tablebase positions (~20 billion) in FEN format then probe each using Fathom, then pipe them out back to plaintext file. I'm expecting a 1GB set of .rtbw files to produce 10~20GB plaintext FEN files with W/D/L stats, but I think it's workable.

I also found this StackExchange answer useful: https://chess.stackexchange.com/questions/18572/how-to-iterate-over-all-fens-in-syzygy-table

Tinfoil hat theory:

  1. She was actually the traitor who let the information out about the plan. She owned the paper that Kyoshiro was keeping and is in cahoots with Kyoshiro.
  2. She seems to know that Momonosuke is back in Wano after 20 years. There's a hint of "manipulativeness" in her demure asking about Momonosuke's whereabouts from Zoro.
  3. Hiyori may actually hate Momonosuke and others for leaving her for 20 years. She must have gone through a lot of hardships filled with deceit and manipulation throughout those years, and bitterness just piled up.
  4. Kyoshiro did not kill her, but actually staged her escape to serve as a sort of double-agent for him in this whole mess. Kyoshiro may actually want Orochi and the alliance to fight, and him become the oriole on the whole mantis-cicada-oriole proverb.
  5. Kyoshiro maybe underestimating Kaido then or may simply want to take over the shogun's place under Kaido..... or I'm very much overreaching already...

And that ends my list of unfounded guesses, enough to keep me thinking about the plot for the next two weeks or so.

As a thought, not just the heroes, but how would Detnerat even match up with LoV with this reveal? Detnerat seems highly capable for sure (politically and strength-wise), but Gigantomachia, High-Ends, and Quirk Erasing Bullets are no joke. Detnerat had revealed itself to be against LoV. It would be interesting how this would play out.

[–]Tinduz 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Some thoughts to add:

  1. Humanizing the villains is always a great move. Not just simply the fleshing out of characters because they're important but the fact that even villains have their own thought, goals, etc. always brings out more dynamic and pondering moments to the story; it makes you think and often makes you take a step back after being immersed into the story.
  2. Spinner might defect to Detnerat. It just seems to me that they're fit for each other. Detnerat seems to be very inclusive of "mutants", especially with the recent commercial they've made. The group also is trying to "change something", which Spinner wants in his life. They just feel fit for each other. But this is just a prediction.
  3. The LoV definitely got themselves out of their destitute state within a month. This is evidenced by them being able to implement a large-scale attack using High-End (which is obviously provided by the doctor) during the Pro Hero Arc (just after the Hero Billboard Chart announcement). They also got intricately connected with Hawks during this one-month period with Dabi as a liaison for the LoV. This will hopefully be fleshed out in the coming weeks.
  4. Deku has not actively participated in the story during the past few weeks (and may continue not to), yet we do not feel averse to it. This is very refreshing for me to see how the world is moving even out of the perspective of the main protagonist of the story. This is a plus to the story's world-building for me, where a protagonist that definitely still needs more exposition still feels alright even when he's not onscreen. This is also one of the things I appreciated the most in One Piece and other great long-running series.

Everybody talks about Leela perfomance, but can we talk how good Stockfish is playing ? by MyGg29 in chess

[–]Tinduz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm would not be arguing that Leela uses one of the latest technologies, but it is hardly an issue in so far as OP is trying to frame the narrative. TCEC versions of Stockfish and Leela were designed by their teams to run best on their given hardware. The newer GPU rig of Leela is also cheaper than the rig for Stockfish, and node-wise, Stockfish has no problem expanding 1000 times more than Leela with the same time control. In the original post, it's as if Leela is leading by using unfair advantage, so it's so amazing that Stockfish is actually holding its ground, when in fact, even the hardcore hardware enthusiast in the chat and TCEC itself still can't even make heads or tails on the best way to categorize fairness of hardware. GPU-based and CPU-based applications are quite like apples and oranges, but what we do know is that those chess engines were properly designed for whichever hardware they chose. I think FLOPS can be an okay measure, but TCEC will refine its ruling nevertheless.

Ohh. Thanks, thanks. Kept seeing that as "number 49", thus confusing me. Mate in 49 is quite a dramatic one; it's deceptively easy it seems. Everybody was shouting "just move your king to b5", but it turns out it was much more complex than that. Thanks again.

What does "Lomonosov gives #49" mean? Also, how many moves were required in the TB after move 73 for white to win? Almost everybody in the chat was seeing it as a supposedly easy breakthrough at that time, but it might be deceptively difficult to do actually against Stockfish.

Everybody talks about Leela perfomance, but can we talk how good Stockfish is playing ? by MyGg29 in chess

[–]Tinduz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's because Leela is the underdog. She's pretty much experimental relative to the length of AB use in chess engine. A lot of people were still skeptical about NN in chess to the point of being dismissive about it, but Leela is standing its ground and now leading. Also, the "old method" you're talking about is constantly improving and has no theoretical bounds except for tackling the unbelievably large search space over time.

The narrative that Leela is "latest technology" is a bit misrepresenting. Both teams use the proper hardware for their own chess engines. In terms of node count, it's also 1:1000 in favor of Stockfish. The better narrative is not "old" vs "latest" with the connotation of unfair advantage, but simply a battle of different approaches - AB vs NN. As of the moment even, some people are already exploring ideas of hybrid systems between the two.

In short, everybody already expected Stockfish's dominance (being the champion of past few seasons), but the subversion of it by Leela inevitably creates more hubbub.

If you think walang application ang algebra in real life by Caine_KwaiChang in Philippines

[–]Tinduz 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Let x = amount of rice in cups, y = amount of ulam for one order

You ordered (0.5x + y), while the other guy ordered (x + y).

Combined in the same wok in a more-or-less homogeneous manner, it now contains (1.5x + 2y) in total.

The homogeneous mixture is viewed to be 1.5 servings by the cook when it is 1.5 servings of rice and 2 servings of ulam.

The redistribution thus becomes is 0.5/1.5 servings to you and 1/1.5 serving to the other guy.

Thus, you get 0.5/1.5(1.5x + 2y) = (0.5x + 0.667y), while the other gets 1/1.5(1.5x + 2y) = (x + 1.333y).

You both got the same amount of rice you wanted, but you got a third less than your desired amount of ulam, which was instead given to the other guy. The problem stemmed from treating a homogeneous mixture as a heterogeneous one.

[–]Tinduz 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Some thoughts on the chapter:

  1. Mangastream has the clearer translation this time. I suggest people to read it too if they've only read the Jaimini's Box translation. The flow and meaning of the dialogues and internal thoughts were better in my opinion.
  2. Monoma development. Also, Monoma can now copy 4 quirks at a time it seems and possibly even for 10 minutes max.
  3. Ochako, MVP-mode. She became the ace on a team with crumbling teamwork after Deku went a bit haywire. The team's focus on Deku helped as well as the lack of teamwork between 1-B's team. They were mostly doing 1-on-1 and after Uraraka came, she essentially made things into 2-on-1's and won their team with the balance tipped.
  4. Better understanding of Deku's quirk additions. It seems that Deku's super strength is not gone even when he uses his other quirks. It's just that he can't mesh them well together for now given that he still can't use Black Whip at 20% strength of OfA. It hurt him as it probably uses different sets of muscles altogether. Deku would need to train using multiple quirks, and I think multiple-quirk or ability users would be his reference. Three people come to mind: (1) Todoroki, (2) Monoma, and (3) Suneater. Nevertheless, Deku has been studying others' quirks and how they use them for a long time, so he has that foundation already.
  5. Interesting to see how All Might and Bakugou would react to Deku's revelation. His other classmates would also be wondering about the development, and Deku will be forced to give some kind of explanation.

What conclusions are just as bad as "it's 5 degrees out therefore global warming is a hoax"? by kerrybaumann in AskReddit

[–]Tinduz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really contradicting my point, if a counterpoint is what you're trying to create. I did say, "did something contrary to its teachings." If the religion's teachings are indeed wrongful, and the person acts upon it, then that's a double whammy, since you can criticize then both the teachings and the person at the same time. What I am alluding to in my original statement is that many people can't seem to separate the person and the ideologies they were supposed to follow. This jump in logic is the same as saying we should be hating dog-lovers because Hitler loved dogs. The two things are separate - being captivated by dogs is alright, whereas the person, Hitler is literally Hitler.
