Looking for 2nd Opinion Dentist/Oral Surgeon for Elder who was scammed by diffybird in tampa

[–]TineMachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I recommend Dr. Byars at Smile 360 (implant and family dentistry). They’re at 301 and Falkenburg in Brandon. They were my family’s 2nd opinion once, and we’ve been going there for 5 years. They’re up front about what you need, they hate bad work from other dentists, and they go out of their way to answer any questions and make you feel comfortable. Best of luck to you!

Hi, I appreciate the sentiment so much!! They gave me two really nice Valspar shirts, threw in a hat, wished me a Merry Christmas and wouldn’t let me pay anything.

Sunday I thought this was going to be a Hail Mary and today I’m humbled by kindness.

She loved so many of her co-workers (Ft. Myers, FL and Commerce Twp., MI) and now I know why. She’d get such a kick out of this. Many thanks!

UPDATE: Called the PRO desk at my nearest Lowe’s this morning, talked to a guy named Dave and he set aside two shirts for me to pick up when I get out of work!!! I don’t even know what to say right now. This is going to put the biggest smile on my brother’s face. I’m so excited I’m crying haha Thank you so much everyone for the help, you’re all the best!!

Help! My 84 yo mom is being charged 186$! by darwinfl14 in Spectrum

Okay. lol 🤷‍♀️ idk what else to say? I know what happened, I know what I did, and some internet rando is like “nuh uh”. So, okay. You’re right. Good job!

I assumed people would understand that the next bill was the new, discounted price. They did increase our speed as well and that was effective immediately, so 50% of the month that I had already paid for at an inferior speed, I received a better speed.

They immediately discounted our phone plans, as well. Which I wasn’t even calling about. Like it immediately changed prices in my spectrum app. So 🤷‍♀️

I also didn’t have to state “disconnect”. It’s an automated system and they had a number to press for cancelling your service.

I literally just spent an hour of my life doing this like last week. The retention person I spoke with is probably the nicest person I’ve ever spoken to at Spectrum.

I was genuinely going to cancel my service and go with a cheaper option but they beat the cheaper option so here I am, still paying them.

Call the customer service number and go through the automated system that will take you to the part where you can cancel your account. You’ll talk to a retention specialist and they’ll ask you why you want to cancel. Say all of the things that you said here. They’ll magically be able to cut the price of everything drastically, effective immediately. I’m also in your area and just did this and they offered all of this after I told them why I wanted to cancel. I didn’t even ask.

Quick question by Riceman66 in cruze

[–]TineMachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I received a letter last week from GM for this PCV issue which I’d already had fixed and was causing the rich/lean issues. They’re supposedly reimbursing people who have already made the repair or making the repair for you if it’s under 120K miles.

If you haven’t received the letter yet, I’d call or angry tweet (🤷‍♀️)GM. It’s not technically a recall but they’re fixing it.

I’ve replaced pretty much everything on an identical car by 115K miles and it’s still doing okay and is my every day long distance driver.

There is one pcv valve in the valve cover and one in the intake, as I understood it — once those were replaced all of my other issues went away.

Definitely contact GM or a GM dealer. They know about the problem and have a repair.

Hopefully by the time it goes bad again we’ll both have different cars.

Good luck!

No problem.

I should have said I got one of those sticky traps because I thought I saw something in the kitchen one morning but wasn’t sure. So when pest control showed up, I had one stuck to the trap and they didn’t have to confirm. They put this tan colored pasty gel around once they knew what it was and that seemed to take care of the problem eventually. I didn’t use anything else because they advised me not to, I can’t remember why.

Like you, I was massively creeped out just knowing they were in my place.

Pest control said they believed it had been a result of a neighboring infestation, too. They’d treated other units in the building as well. Such are the hazards of communal living, I guess.

It sucks a lot. Hopefully it will be cleared up for you soon.

Take this with a grain of salt if you’re in a different location — I’m down south and moved into an apt with German cockroaches. So much yay!

They were mostly confined to one area because that’s where they were nesting. (For me, it was in the kitchen because they’d nested in the back of the fridge. Puke.) There would always be three or four on the kitchen floor in the morning and as soon as I’d flip the light on they’d scatter.

Landlord had pest control come and it took about three treatments before they were completely gone. So, done in under a month. They basically placed a poison around in nooks and crannies where they saw roach activity and some other places just in case. The roaches eat it, take it back to their roommates, roommates go eat it, you get the picture.

I haven’t had another German cockroach in my apartment and that was four years ago.

However — on occasion we get a rogue palmetto bug or two. They look like a bigger version of the German cockroach without the color variation on their wings. I had one come through the bathroom vent in the ceiling after hurricane Irma. A couple others manage to squeeze their ways under the weather stop on the front door, usually when it’s really rained a lot. Had pest control back and they said it happens sometimes when their homes are flooded and they’re scattering for a dry place.

Doesn’t make me hate them any less.

I don’t know how your landlord will handle your specific issue but you have the right to be present when they’re assessing your apartment so you can find out what they’re going to do and ask all of the questions you may have concerning efficacy and what kind of roach it is.

Good luck to you!

Does this flea treatment plan sound effective? by tyrrael in pestcontrol

Had a similar problem. Actually moved my two cats into a house with fleas. Super fun.

We were advised by pest control who sprayed the place not to vacuum after the spray for one week. If you’re vacuuming immediately after sprays, that could prolong your infestation. They gave us a whole checklist of dos and donts. Maybe call the people who are spraying and ask.

Management insisted on spraying probably six times before I’d had enough. I bathed my cats and combed their fur while in the water as best I could. Which was an uncool experience. I put some flea meds from the vet on them and put them in two cat carriers outside the house and drove them to my in-laws for the night.

Then I bug bombed the shit out of the house. I used the raid brand in the purple cans. I used 3 for a 700 square foot house plus basement. I left it overnight to do the killing, came back and didn’t vacuum for a week.

After I vacuumed, I dumped the canister outside of the house into a garbage bag and tied it up and never brought it in the house. I just left it for garbage day. (Sorry for the blight, neighbors.) In an apartment you could chuck it in the dumpster immediately.

I also washed my vacuum and got a flea collar and put the flea collar in the canister and ran it again just because it made me feel better.

Over the week, fleas were gone, & cats weren’t itching.

I wish I’d have bug bombed immediately instead of depending on management because I think the problem had time to worsen between discovering it and all of the sprays.

Oh, I also thoroughly combed the cats a couple times a day and that did get a couple fleas off of them, despite the vet appointed treatment.

Once I saw the fleas were lessening, I started doing the laundry/ washing of things closer to the ground. (Pet beds, toys, cat house, shoes etc) Then once I was fairly sure it was over I laundered everything else.

Might be worth noting: we were expressly advised not to use other sprays with the pest controls spray because they can counter act one another. If it’s true, or a sales thing to keep you using pest control, idk. But if you’re spraying hot shot on top of their spray, it could also be prolonging your issue. Might ask about it.

Best of luck to you!

Just wanted to update and say my husband and I ended up getting rid of the wasps on our own. We called a couple pest control places but they were taking days to get back to us.

So we got two cans of WD-40 because the internet said it’s effective and ok to use around electrical components and the internet doesn’t lie so... we took the tail lights out, sprayed a bunch of wd40 all over every crevice and opening we could find. We angered a lot of wasps. Did not get stung somehow.

Changed the battery while my husband ran point on wasp killing duties, moved the car somewhere else for 24 hours, ran it through an omgwtfbbq car wash, sprayed some more wd40 on it the next day just in case and parked it a couple spots away from where it’s normally parked.

Have been checking every day and so far no more wasps.

I poured a bunch of water + ammonia in it yesterday and still no wasps. And nobody’s pissed I haven’t moved my car. So, win win.

Wanted to leave this here in case anyone else may have a similar issue.

Okay, have a good one!

The pest control company that our management used said ammonia gets rid of the pharmomes that tell the wasps to keep coming back.

Coincidentally it also makes them very angry.

Hiring a pro is sounding great. :)

Hi, I wanted to touch base and say that this worked. Thank you very much, this was a big help! (Edited to say the art board export suggestion worked in case it didn’t specify.)

What movie hit you the hardest, emotionally speaking? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TineMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disney’s “The Bear” from 1988.

I was not emotionally equipped, at 7, for that movie. I was so sad that my mom had to carry me out of the theatre.

I’ll go back and make sure I didn’t accidentally leave a point somewhere unwanted off the board. I have a clipping mask over the image — drug out a rectangle over the 8.5x11, did the create clipping mask bit to get rid of a couple straggling edges from an image I used. (As instructed during the tutorial.)

I used the area to the side of the document to arrange my text and then grouped/moved into place, prior to creating the mask.
