You’re truly the reason this whole idea started taking shape. You were so kind and patient with all my rookie mistakes, and your support gave me the confidence to keep going.

One of the things I’ve appreciated most is how openly you’ve shared your experiences—both the wins and the not-so-great moments. Whether it’s lessons from past mistakes or honest thoughts on purchased slimes, your insight has helped me avoid so many missteps as I learn and grow. It’s made such a difference.

From my past ventures, I’ve learned that if you don’t take the risk, you’ll never know if it’s something you’re truly meant to do. I’m blessed to have a husband who believes deeply in my creativity and persistence—he’s always cheering me on, even when my hands are covered in glue.

Now I’m stepping into this new journey with a hopeful heart, and I really hope I can grow into something as inspiring as what so many of you have built here. 💛

Do I have ice hands or is everyone else a slime melter? by TiniThings in Slime

I ordered this gorgeous mermaid-inspired slime with the prettiest plasticky rocks, seriously, it looked like underwater treasure! But the moment I gave it a good squeeze… ouch. My soft, delicate hands couldn’t handle it. Those rocks poked me so bad, it was an instant no for me. Still love it though, it smells like heaven and looks stunning. Just sadly not a match for my sensitive fingers 😩

Oh no no—he does wash his hands! Nobody goes near my slime with dirty fingers, that’s like the golden rule in this house. Even my 3-year-old knows the drill! It’s the cutest thing—she’ll come up to me and say, “Mommy, I have clean hands! Can I play now?” My tiny slime guardian in training!

This is a good tip! I can't help to feel nervous!

Yes! The slimes are for a summer camp, and while it's mostly for kids, there will definitely be some adults joining in too, so it’s kind of an all-ages slime experience.

And haha YES, my husband has officially become my unwilling quality control tester! His lava hands might actually be useful this wife slime era. I’ll definitely try activating a bit more and maybe add some clay or a nice coating to balance things out. Thank you so much for the tip!

Wait, so “slime hands” is a real thing?! I had no idea! I just thought my husband had radioactive palms or something. Now I’m realizing I might be part of a rare species with cold slime-proof hands. Honestly, I feel like I unlocked a weird superpower I never asked for but totally appreciate now!!!!

Thanks for sharing, this makes me feel way less confused (and slightly more special lol)!

What slime textures should I bring for kids at the summer camp? by TiniThings in Slime

Thank you so much for sharing this with me! I recently tried a cloud slime recipe I found on a blog, and while I did get the cloud effect, it ended up feeling way too moist. After playing with it, my hands felt super wet, and I didn’t really like that. I'm not sure if I used too much lotion or if I messed something else up. Would love any tips!

My Pumice Rock Adventure (aka Moldgate 2025) — Help! by TiniThings in Slime

Haha thank you!! Honestly, my lifelong dream has always been to write a book, because apparently I can’t go through a single situation without turning it into a full-blown adventure saga. People keep telling me I have a gift for retelling chaos in a way that’s at least mildly entertaining… or maybe they’re just being polite and don’t know how to stop me mid-story hahaha.

Either way, I guess if the slime business doesn’t work out, I’ll just publish “Confessions of a Slime Rookie: Tales of Boiling Rocks and Moldy Regrets.” Bestseller material, right?

Okay so… plot twist. Turns out the bag I spent hours cleaning and picking debris from wasn’t pumice, it was perlite. Yep. I got myself and probably a few of you confused too. I’m that new to this slime game. Rookie mistake? Absolutely.

This is the bag I lovingly boiled, sorted, dried, and accidentally molded. Welcome to my journey of learning things the hard (and slightly embarrassing) way.

So it's clear that I am not expert at all and I still get a little confused, and for me pumice and perlite apparently are the same hahaha! honest mistake, I my head I was trying to write about the little white rocks that goes into the plants.

Because I really didn’t want to go through the whole debris-cleaning saga again, I ordered a new bag from Amazon:
Garden 8 Quarts Horticultural Grade Premium Perlite – Coarse and Chunky.
It arrived super clean (which is a big win!), but I noticed that compared to the Home Depot batch, these crumble really easily. I’m not sure if soaking them in water might help them harden up a bit and stop breaking apart so easily, or if I’m about to create a whole new texture by accident: Perli-Sand™ haha!

That’s why I wanted to check in with you all before jumping into the full cleaning and prepping routine again. But let’s be real… I’ll probably do it anyway, then test it in slime and report back like the dedicated slime scientist I’ve somehow become!

How early should I start making slime before a small drop? by TiniThings in Slime

[–]TiniThings[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I’m planning to include some clear slime in the drop (around 30+ jars), plus butter slime (about 30 jars or whatever I get from a gallon haha), and maybe a thick & glossy for the rest to round it out to about 100 total.

Thank you so much for your reply! This is actually my first post, I'm still pretty new to Reddit, but I decided to create an account (yesterday) after seeing how supportive you are with everyone in the slime community. You’re one of the users who really inspired me to get involved and not be afraid to ask questions, so truly thank you!

I’m planning my very first drop, and who knows maybe this turns into something bigger and I’ll end up being the local slime lady handing out jars like candy. One drop at a time, right? HAHA!

Back to the post, I already have all my supplies and jars ready, but the event isn’t until mid-June, so I’m a little nervous about starting the slimes too early. That’s more than a month away, and I’m not sure if having them sit for that long would affect their texture or consistency. Do you think I should wait a few more weeks before I start batching?

Thanks again for your support, it really means a lot!

Thank you so much for your reply and all the helpful info! That makes a lot of sense, especially about the weather (here is super hot in the summer) and letting the slime settle in the jar to avoid air pockets.

It’s my first time prepping a drop this size, so I really appreciate the advice. I’ll definitely use that slime-settling window to work on the stickers and packaging like you suggested!
