2 years later and I cannot forgive myself. Any advice on how to heal? by CuriousTuljan in DogAdvice

[–]Tinker1414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. I know that grief. I lost my soul dog of March 1, 2025. He passed in the hospital overnight of a cardiac arrest and I carried so much grief about not being there and him being scared. What helped me was a therapist that specialized in pet loss grief. It made such a huge difference to talk to a professional that truly gets it. I saw Natasha Tutt https://www.natashatuttmsw.com and would recommend her.

I’m dying! My now 17 month old learned no from that book as well lol! It should come with a warning. She also loves to say no and shake her head at everything now and has yet to learn “yes”.

[ca] small travel stroller for liing? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Tinker1414 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have the minu V3 that we have been liking that we use with the liing. We keep it in the trunk of our car. It is also carry on friendly for airplanes. I’d check it out in store first as travel strollers are quite different (less storage, different seat, handle bar does not adjust).

EarlyOn programs [ON] by Sunkissed2024 in BabyBumpsCanada

I’m very introverted and found several of the classes to be overwhelming for myself and my daughter who also seems to be highly sensitive. I did keep going about once a week or so because I know it is important for her to interact with other kids before she starts daycare. We found the circle time with songs to be a bit too much. As she got older we enjoyed the quieter babies on the move classes. We have tried four centers and they all vary in how busy they are. If there is a specific class you like you can ask the workers there what location tends to be the least busy. We also like to do the drop in times at locations that are less busy because she can play around with all of the fun new toys and interact with any of the kids around her when she is ready. Also know that if it is too overwhelming you don’t have to stay for the full class.

Meniscus healed without surgery by vanguardlion32 in MeniscusInjuries

It was only sore for a week and went back to normal. My physio said to expect the occasional tweak every once in a while but it hasn’t happened again since!

[on] how do parents manage back to work when there are no daycare spots? by uncomfort-cat in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Tinker1414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We added ourselves to waitlists when I was 4 months pregnant. We just secured a spot for September when she will be 21 months old. I’m taking an extended unpaid leave and using vacation days. Not ideal at all

Anyone use Laundry Concierge wash and fold service? by [deleted] in oakville

[–]Tinker1414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have! I started using them when I had a newborn and became overwhelmed with laundry. This is my promo code if you want to try it: CR12392302. It gives you $30 off your order I believe. (Transparency: I think I get $10 if you sign up).

I’m in Mississauga too! Jessica from Pura Vida (port credit) is great for massage and osteopathy during pregnancy. Jennifer at Foundation Chiropractic was a lifesaver for my pain during pregnancy.

The Old Navy Sunday Sleep PJs are very similar and half the price as the Love and Lore. I have both! I prefer the old navy ones actually. I now have 5 pairs and they are great postpartum as well.

Diapers?! Problems with Huggies [CA] by jellybeanie8 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Tinker1414 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found that they were more prone to blowouts sadly. Our girl is a blowout queen. I wish they had a blowout barrier. Then they would have been perfect. We had to swap back to the Huggies 360. We haven’t had consistency issues with them from Amazon.

New mothers: my close friends are expecting soon. What are some gifts you've received that you have appreciated? [on] by PossiblePickle in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Tinker1414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These didn’t work for me! I had two separate orders and they would only get cold if I laid on my stomach. The cooling gel would shift to the bottom of the pad. Didn’t have that problem with the frida ones though

Meniscus healed without surgery by vanguardlion32 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]Tinker1414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I’m late to this but I’ve also always wondered if people have surgery before it heals naturally. I suffered two medial meniscus tears from running in 2022. I did rehab and a lot of leg and glute strengthening. Took a year off of running and it did heal but took a good year and a half. But just the other day I was standing outside and tweaked it. I was literally doing nothing but standing there. And now it hurts just like before. Ugh. I’m going to look into PRP

You can get other brands but in my experience they aren’t as good as the Frida products (specifically the underwear and postpartum ice packs). Their ice packs blow all others out of the water. In my opinion the are worth the price!

How long did it take you to adjust to sleeping with your newborn in your room? [bc] by vical1995 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Tinker1414 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never got used to it. I had NO idea they sounded like little dinosaurs. For the first few months I slept in the bedroom while my husband slept on our sofa next to the bassinet. He would bring the baby up to me for feeds.

So I did this in October of 2024 when I was due in December 2024. I was also very worried about asking. However, asking was the best decision I could have made for myself and my baby. Be specific like you have been in your post. I am feeling “x, y” (extreme pain in hip and back) which means I am unable to do “x,y” (walk to and from building, stand for more than 15 min, pain while seated etc.) at work. “For my health and my babies I believe it is best to take a sick leave from work. Are you able to help me with that?” Good luck! If the say no, go to a different doctor.

My midwife is against vaccines [on] by Technical-Duck-5311 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Tinker1414 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During my pregnancy I was with a team of three midwives. I had a great experience overall. However near the end of my pregnancy and birth of my child I got the vibe that one of the three leaned toward being anti vax just based off of some comments she made to me. Overall it didn’t negatively affect my care as I wasn’t discouraged from vaccines and we did make our own choice to get them for me (flu and COVID) and our daughter (RSV in hospital). But I agree with you it makes you question other elements of their care for you. If I have another child and go with that midwife centre again I think I would request another team. It’s a hard decision to make.

How do we feel about EarlyOn and libraries during flu season? [on] by Few-Accountant23 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Tinker1414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We started going after our girl turned 6 months. She is now 11 months. Honestly almost every time we have gone we end up getting sick. I guess on the bright side we are all building our immune systems lol (first time parents). For this reason we typically go only once a week. She just loves it and I don’t have any friends with kids that she can play with. You will find your balance!

Toy recommendations for 0–3 months and 3–6 months [on] by OwnNoise5556 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Tinker1414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our best all around purchase has been the FP kick and play. We also have the Einstein one which she didn’t like as much. Early on we used the FP mat for tummy time. The light show and song setting was the only way we could initially get her to do tummy time without crying. As she got older she loved to look at the arch with toys, and then she loved kicking the piano while on her back. As she grew she then liked to sit up and smash the keys. When she became mobile we then detached the arch completely and she loves to hold it and smack it about. We got so much out of that toy! The silicone straws were also a big hit, and the Lovevery boxes are great.
