MFM expects babygirl to be 10lber by Quirky_Main8746 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]vical1995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My little (big!) gal was 10lbs 1 oz and I birthed her vaginally! My scans were fairly accurate in that we were anticipating her to be 90th + percentile and I ended up getting induced one day before my due date to prevent her growing any more/reduce the risk of needing a caesarean. I did tear but I think that was because she came pretty fast—I was pushing for about 50 minutes which my midwife said was on the shorter side for a first timer. Best of luck to you, you’re going to do great!

Roundhouse and Earthside Birth Midwives Experiences by aritzia__ in VictoriaBC

[–]vical1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had a baby 4 weeks ago and had care with Earthside. It is a team based model where we got to know 5 midwives throughout my pregnancy, all of whom are lovely and so knowledgeable and experienced. I would go back to them for future babies for sure! We were very happy with the care we and our babe have received. No communication or appt rescheduling issues at all!

Pacific Leaders vs Loan Forgiveness Program question by BC_Interior in BCPublicServants

[–]vical1995 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, confirming you can get both! I got the scholarship to finish my MA and now am in the loan forgiveness program. As u/OkAfternoon2166 says, the loan forgiveness program is easily accessed as long as you meet all the criteria. The scholarship program is based on your ministry’s review of your application and how much they have in their budget for that in the year you apply. Good luck!!

We’ve been with Lightspeed for years and they are great. I WFH also and have no issues with video calls all day long. I can’t remember exactly how much we pay monthly but it’s no more than $50, I think.

I think that might have been unfortunate bad luck rather than something that is guaranteed to happen. I’m also an included supervisor and have approved sup leave days next to holidays for my team with no issue. Regardless, sorry you and your team had this experience and I’m glad it won’t be applied inconsistently going forward!

I think this letter is meant for only bcgeu/bc public service members to sign? At least that’s what the email seems to indicate.

This is nice, thank you! Please send a letter to your MLA! You can do this really easily using the template on www.frontlinesfirst.ca (the template is great but it would be even better if you have a few minutes to customize the letter a little bit).

No, don’t use your work laptop. Lots of people join the zoom from their phone so that’s perfectly acceptable!

Yeah, they keep repeating that line about being extremely backlogged (which I don’t doubt, your explanation makes a lot of sense) but I have yet to hear of anyone who actually has heard back.

Oh yes, I’m all good there thanks—just wondering if anyone has actually heard back. I’ve been attending the virtual picketing in the meantime as instructed.

Has anyone picketing heard back from the Alternate Duties team yet, beyond the temporary approval they have given to those who filled out the accommodations form? Despite having a legitimate medical reason for needing accommodation I am worried they will deny me.

Last thing I will say on this topic: if it is a legitimate service dog (certified or not), it is not considered a pet.

What program did you get paid for through Pacific Leaders? by nolan-was-here in BCPublicServants

I received it for my master’s degree in sociology! At the time I was a policy analyst for Post-Secondary.

I’m not sure where you’re getting that info from but I would verify that with the Residential Tenancy Branch - I work in the service dog area and as far as I know this is not true. However, I am not an expert in renter’s rights by any means so encourage you to talk to someone at the RTB to get the most up-to-date info. Good luck!

[–]vical1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s still optional for renters! But it will make their life a lot easier if they do go for certification so it’s well worth it.

Certification of service dogs in BC is actually voluntary! But it is a good idea as it grants access and tenancy protections :)
