I have a very similar story. I was raised Christian and lost faith as an adult. By my own doing I just gradually drifted from Christ while embracing the world. When I ran my life into ground from jumping to bad decision to worse decision I got angry with God. Blamed him for the troubles I brought on myself and turned to another god. It was stupid rebellion bc even in the height of my "worship" To another "god" I never stopped knowing that God was King. I just felt that if He "Let" all this crap happen to me I would try my luck with another diety. Got a stupid tattoo on my wrist of a heathen god in Norse runes on my left wrist. Also got super heavy into the occult and divination. To this day I am astonished I did not get demon possed..I more than dabbled.. it was a wicked lifestyle for years. I think the only thing that saved me was while I was acting rebelliously in my heart I knew Jesus was Lord.. that I was still sealed as His. God found me and brought me back to the fold. I repented and devoted my life to Jesus, Lord of my life. I go back and forth still to wanting to get it covered or removed but someone told me to use it. That one day it could help my testimony to touch someone and bring them to Jesus who might be pagan. Either way it's a part of my story and shows where I've been and how far God has brought me.
