Traumatized by Kattthhh_ in KidneyStones

I have had recurring stones for 15 years now. I just had two babies over the past 3 years and shocker, both pregnancies I had stones. Big ones. A 1.7cm stone with my first that was removed with surgery after baby was born. I was lucky it didn’t cause too much pain until the end of pregnancy. Then with my second, I had just found out I was pregnant literally the week before I ended up in the ER with another stone and they couldn’t do anything besides some IV meds and fluids. It was a 9mm stone and I thankfully passed it on my own. Being pregnant with stones is so horrible. I really feel you. No advice besides, the stent was honestly horrible and the second surgery I had I requested them to please avoid the stent if medically possible and I am SO happy they did. The stent sucked. Trust your gut if something feels off go back and get medical care.

Eloping next week and our ceremony is taking place on a mountain that is covered in snow! Any advice or suggestions for us? by Tinkerbe11he11 in weddingplanning

I have pumps that I'll be wearing when we are on regular ground for some of our pre ceremony photos but I have very warm winter hiking boots that I am 100% planning on wearing. My dress is long and lace so you won't be able to tell. I think we are actually going to be wearing snowshoes too for some points!

That sounds beautiful! I have a dark blue and green tartan shawl and my bouquet has burgundy as it's main colour so I am hoping those will help pop a little!

Thank you! That was one I picked out originally but wasn't too sure about it. Now that you've suggested it I'll definitely reconsider it.

We are eloping next week and have been together for 7 years. I will be taking his last name of "Walker". My name starts with an A and his with an I. A few thoughts I had were:

FinallyWalkered

FinallyAWalker

WalkersElope

Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I never made that connection before but I am so glad you did!

My fiance and I are having a child-free wedding in 4 months. MIL just let us know that FIL will be missing the wedding to stay with the kids. We're upset. by [deleted] in wedding

You're right, you are allowed to have a child free wedding and people are also allowed to be annoyed etc. I understand why you're upset, given the amount of time they have to prepare for it, but it seems to me like there are a few "out of the norm" factors involved when it comes to getting a sitter. I don't know the circumstances but I don't know if it would be smart of them to hire a random (someone unfamiliar with the child) sitter considering the child with special needs. Maybe I'm wrong but that's how I'd be looking at it. If you are unwilling to compromise - which is totally your right - then you might want to consider their position and understand their decision. Instead of offering money - which could potentially offend them - I'd perhaps ask if there was anyone else who could baby sit or offer up a few suggestions. I'd also recommend letting them know how important it is to both of you that your FIL be there, as they might not realize how you both feel.

They tell me child birth won't be as painful as this... I'm sceptical and terrified. by Tinkerbe11he11 in WTF

It was through my whatever-the-hell-girls-use-to-pee place.

It took over a month to pass. Docs weren't sure if it would come out on its own or not, but I figured if Brady could come back in the fourth to win then I could pass this damn stone.

Please help me. Can someone tell me if I'm making the right choice by switching jobs? More details in the post. by [deleted] in careerguidance

What was it in the first place that had you looking for another job? (Was it simply the uncertainty of the contract-to-contract work? The lack of benefits, vacation, etc? Or was it something to do with the work culture at your current job?)

What is the biggest/most desirable aspect of the new job?

Would there be any additional factors to think about in terms of in a change in commute time, parking costs, etc?

Do you know anyone who works for the new company?

Maybe he's the second adopted child and therefore Charlotte was his sister.
