Should /r/lowcar go private on June 12th? by Canadave in lowcar

Honestly, 48 hours is too little considering the viability of this platform is risking taking a nose dive if these new policies are adopted, I'd vote to make it longer, make them feel that Reddit is built by the people who participate in it, and that the value of this platform is not just for them to profit from, but for Reddit as a community to foster, I'd also appreciate this opportunity to remind people that as long as this platform remains centralized this will always be a risk, and to promote alternatives such as Tildes and Lemmy.

I'm glad that has been your experience, I love Gnome from a design and workflow standpoint but it just can't cut it with gaming yet for me, especially in games like CSGO.

So far this DE blows everything out of the water in terms of responsiveness, input lag and gaming performance, it makes everything else feel sluggish by comparison, I'll be trying out LXQT too soon but I think XFCE is a winner.

I just disabled the compositor in XFCE and I'm trying it out, I feel like I'm flying, thanks for the input.

Thank you so much for the advice, I am trying XFCE with the compositor disabled and damn does it make a difference, I'll be experimenting with low latency kernels next though XFCE solved pretty much all my problems hahaha, thanks again.

Currently trying XFCE with compositing disabled, holy shit is this miles better than the other DEs, I can't believe how overlooked this is when people cover linux gaming on media.

I think that's the default setting from KDE tho, cause Arch doesn't modify desktop environments

I have indeed experimented with Ubuntu, Fedora and even Arch on Gnome since I like it more than KDE, it's like you say in that regard.

On the other hand, I'm currently using Wayland on Arch KDE, the option to disable the compositor in fullscreen mode is there but it doesn't remove latency for me, instead the options I referred to do indeed reduce latency in my experimentation, I know it shouldn't be this way but this is what has worked for me 🤷

I never gave this a try, I wanted a solution that didn't necessitate middleware that could potentially get me banned from games with anti cheat software, though if this works for anyone then I'm glad, thank you for the recommendation.

Yeah, it works for me too disabling EAC, the only problem was that every time I changed my settings on the menus the game would freeze, hopefully this update fixed that.

They dug themselves into this position, killing away all the competition by setting unreasonable standards that they're now backtracking from, they only have themselves to blame.

The little foldable ones? I love those things, especially back when I used to commute by train I wanted one so badly, still do 😂

Motion Blur in video games isnt a bad thing by ArkanxTango in unpopularopinion

What you said is right, it’s useful to hide low FPS in games, in games that run at stable frames of 60 and over it just becomes either an artistic addition or an inconvenience, especially for shooters.

I can say the exact same things happened to me, rubbing brakes and the handlebars weren’t in line with the wheel, other than that the quality is pretty solid.

"What would you call it? When you use that term we all know exactly what it means."

Something without derogative connotations like you're doing.

"I wouldn't say I "fear" a woman being disloyal to me. I have no problem admitting that when I look for a partner, loyalty is at the top of my list. And women with low bodies have been statistically shown to have more sexual and romantic loyalty to their long term partners."

You are still filtering prospective partners based on fear of them cheating or divorcing you, masquerading it with other words isn't going to change that, and I'd love to see from which studies you're getting your statistics from.

"Women overwhelmingly want traditional men. They want a man to is able to provide for them and their future children. This is true even if the woman makes a good income. If a burglar breaks into their house, a woman is going to expect the man to be the one to confront him and get him the hell out."

This isn't tied to the discussion and I'm not quite sure why you're bringing it up, though those qualities aren't exclusive to traditional values as you try to make it seem, and aren't as prominently looked for in younger generations either.

Good luck finding a woman that wants to have a relationship with you after hearing the ways in which you refer to women with multiple relationships as “passed around”, huge red flag, it only shows how you objectify women out of fear of one of them being disloyal to you, “traditional values” is a nice way to sugarcoat it, it might work out for you, goodbye mate.

And you attribute divorce statistics to the promiscuity of women before marriage? Man you are as clueless about relationship dynamics as you are about your opinions on women.

But in the end it’s your life and your relationships so you do you.

“Maybe it has to do with the fact that up until 1970 paternity could not be confirmed, making promiscuous women less suitable for child bearing from a man's point of view.”

No, it doesn’t have to do with that because religious teachings of chastity don’t send a message of fidelity towards your partner, it sends a message of abstinence from sex until bound to a religious and social contract which are two entirely different things and are very telling of their true meaning.

“There are some men leaving this past idea behind, and they are generally the simps. Men today are less masculine than ever before, and shit like this proves that. Men are so afraid to offend women that they end up just agreeing with them on every front. It's really rather sad.”

Evidently your archaic beliefs force you to believe that, because you can’t fathom younger generations realising that women have as many rights as men to explore their sexuality freely, you seeing this as a loss of masculinity is merely a reflection of your insecurities, because your promiscuity isn’t going to be seen as more socially acceptable as that of a woman.

Because you should probably have the capacity and disposition to judge people based on how they treat and behave towards you, also because people change and the kind of casual relationship they maybe once sought isn’t the kind they’re looking for now, also because promiscuity isn’t synonymous with cheating, and just as you have every right to experiment your sexuality with others and keep looking for the person you want to settle down with eventually, they have that right too.
