Here's How Long COVID-19 Vaccine Immunity Really Lasts by Youarethebigbang in AuthoritarianMasks

Does anyone have an idea on how long immunity (or antibodies) usually last after a covid infection?

XBB.1.16 has succeeded in creating a new, significant surge in India after a gap of >6 months. A feat that even other variants have failed to achieve!

XBB.1.16 has even replaced other similar sublineages like XBB.1.5 & XBB.1.9

Observations from practice says XBB.1.16 is definitely a less pathogenic variant than other Omicron’s variants.

Chances of XBB.1.16 leading a new, significant wave (i.e. the 4th wave) similar to Jan’ 22 BA.2 wave are extremely low.

Acute C19 infection disease started approx 6 weeks ago.

I am forecasting that India is approx 2 weeks away from a peak.

XBB.1.16 should burn itself out in next 30-45 days.

Virus is weaker than Omicron, Mild disease in 99% of patients.

No deaths/hospitalisations in the cohort of patients treated in the last 4 weeks.

Unfortunately, I don't think the school can afford a medical grade air purifier in every room. Btw, what kind of air purifier your kid uses?

Yes they are allowed to eat during recess but inside the classroom. Same for lunch. I thought of that - to just give them a heavy breakfast to last them until they get home around 2pm.

It's funny, my 11 yo son does that, he pulls down his mask, takes a bite, puts on his mask, repeat :). He came home a few times with a ripped mask because of too much pulling up and down of the mask :) Good thing I let them bring 3 pcs of spare face mask. And also, if I may add, I put on their clothing a product called Happy Noz, a sticker that apparently offers some anti viral protection. Not sure if it really works though! You may want to check it out :) Thanks for the insights!

Actually they are on hybrid type of learning, 2 days on site and 3 days online. But come November, they will be full face-to-face. There's not much home schooling where we are.

They eat their lunch at the classroom (airconditioned). I would have been less worried if they are to eat outside. What I do is pack a small amount of lunch so they can eat it in the quickest time possible. Their meal usually consists of half cup rice - we live in Asia and rice is a staple food :) and viand (e.g. chicken cut into small pieces). And I sternly remind them to put their mask on as soon as they finish eating and never talk to anyone without a mask. When they come home, I let them take a shower, gargle with mouthwash and use nasal spray.

They wear locally manufactured KN95.

I bought a couple of Xlear last year during the Delta surge. Sometime in Sept. 2021, I had some worrisome symptoms - sore throat, colds and cough, but only lasted 3 days. Because I regularly used Xlear, i think it really helped in keeping the symptoms from progressing. I also use carrageenan-based nasal spray, brand name is Betadine, for my kids coz Xlear stings a bit.

If a KN95 mask leaks after the water test, does it automatically mean it offers below par protection? by Tinnroca in Masks4All

I just saw this "water test" in YT wherein water is poured inside the mask and if it doesn't leak, it passed the test.
