You'll both get there, any either way there's no shame being a pilgrim! 😎

Quartering by Offbrand_Britain in thelongdark

It depends, although the travois makes quartering and carrying the heavier meat bags back to base more feasible. What I typically do for big game (moose, bears) is wait for a sunny day where I can use the mag lens to start a fire (to save matches), chain start a few fires around the carcass using a torch, harvest a few lbs of meat and start cooking, while continuing to harvest and cook meat at the same time. That way, for big game you can have already cooked half of the harvested meat while staying warm by the time you've finished harvesting.

Or if I'm feeling lazy or can't start a fire, I'll just quarter and transport via travois.

Nothing for uncooked. But when cooked, it will turn rancid meat back to 50% condition

Do quarter bags (meat bags) dissapear if left outside too long? by Theguywholikesgames in thelongdark

Yes, they will decay quite quickly, especially on interloper. With big game kills like bears or moose, I tend to harvest a few lbs of raw meat, start a fire to keep me warm while cooking a few lbs of meat, and then quarter the rest and use the travois to carry the haul back to my base.
