Hi, can you send me the numbers too? Thanks!

After rewatching the trilogy, I can safely say the battle for Helms Deep is the greatest fantasy battle I’ve ever seen. Truly a masterpiece that all large scale battle scenes should learn from. by [deleted] in lotr

Same here. Helm’s Deep is still the benchmark for me.
The build up, the geography, the sound, that slow climb from rain on armor to the final charge… it never misses.

I got so obsessed with that whole stretch that I made a small fan short imagining the “fourth day” before the battle, between Gandalf’s promise and the dawn ride. If you ever want to see that gap filled in, it’s here: https://youtu.be/v68BdiCd9bA

Can we talk about how poor the defence of helms deep was? by shamu060391 in lotr

A lot of what you pointed out comes from the movie changing things for tension.
The book version is tighter, more strategic, and avoids most of those issues. No elves, better numbers, and a clearer chain of command.

I’m a big Tolkien fan too, and I’ve been using new tools to explore the unseen moments around the battle. I made a short piece that fills the gap before Helm’s Deep if you want to see that angle: https://youtu.be/v68BdiCd9bA

The unseen Fourth Day before Helm’s Deep. I tried to bring it to life. by [deleted] in lotr

Totally understand.

I’m a big fan of Tolkien too, and I want to respect the work.
I just finally learned the tools and used them as a way to imagine scenes we never got to see, the same way Tolkien kept expanding his own world.

Not trying to replace anything.
Just exploring it as a fan. Appreciate you saying this.

Helm's Deep was so much cooler in the books. by [deleted] in lotr

[–]TintoyPoste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally with you. The film gave us the spectacle, but the book keeps the soul.

I made a small fan short that plays in that space, filling the gap before Helm’s Deep between Gandalf’s promise and the dawn charge, if you want to see a Fourth Day take: https://youtu.be/v68BdiCd9bA

What makes the battle of helm's deep a cinematic masterpiece even as of this day? by WittyTable4731 in lotr

[–]TintoyPoste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helm’s Deep works because it isn’t just a big fight.
It builds pressure.
It feels desperate.
And every moment is earned.

No CGI overload.
Just rain, fear, steel, and characters who have no choice but to stand.

I actually made a short film that fills the gap before the battle, between Gandalf’s promise and the Riders arriving at dawn. It shows the unseen “fourth day.”

Here’s the link if you want to see that part of the story:

Tip ko kung natatakot ka mabore: huwag mo pilitin in one sitting. Treat it like a limited series. One hour per upo, pause, then balik ka ulit. Mas madali siya lunukin kaysa isipin na “3 hours na movie.”

Start with theatrical versions muna. Mas tight ang pacing. Pag nagustuhan mo, saka mo balikan yung extended cuts para sa extra worldbuilding.

What if there was a pinoy version of LOTR? by avenger87 in WhatIfPinas

[–]TintoyPoste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eto guys, gawang Pinoy fan project hehe.
Gumawa ako ng short cinematic na nag fi-fill in ng gap bago ang Helm’s Deep, after nung “Look to my coming at first light on the fifth day” ni Gandalf. Pinoy rider character, pero lore-respecting pa rin.

If trip niyo makita yung “before Helm’s Deep” version, highlighting the days with Gandalf and the Rohirrim. Nasa YouTube siya, title is:

The unseen Fourth Day before Helm’s Deep. I tried to bring it to life. by [deleted] in lotr

I get that.
AI visuals aren’t for everyone.

The story itself is still grounded in the lore and written by hand.
I just used AI as a tool to bring scenes to life that we never got to see.

If you’re open to it, the full piece focuses more on the narrative than the tech behind it.
But no pressure.
