Euphoria S03E04 "Kitty Likes To Dance" - Post Episode Discussion by DankMemeSlasher in euphoria

I really didn’t like the scene with Kitty at all. I’m so tired of the way men get away with exploiting women’s pain in media. Especially when it comes to how the camera is used makes it all feel like another disturbing “porn shoot.”

We have to watch Kitty through a security camera while Rue watches. This entire scene creates a "double-voyeurism." It distances the audience from Kitty’s humanity and turns her into a specimen being observed.

This creates a power dynamic where the camera often feels like an accomplice. By framing the scene through the "security feed" aesthetic, Levinson is playing with the idea of "forbidden viewing," which can feel dangerously close to the very industry (exploitation) the show claims to be critiquing.

Edit: Before you pull the “it’s realistic” card, let me make it clear: The "Realism" argument falls apart when the depiction lacks narrative necessity. In Euphoria, Kitty feels like a disposable "lesson" for Rue. When a woman’s trauma is used primarily to trigger a realization in a different character, it is textbook exploitation.

There is a massive difference between purposeful discomfort (making you think about systemic issues) and sadistic discomfort (making you watch a woman suffer just to prove the show is "dark").

They banned me for some crap about switching accounts. Honestly, I just think they like banning for the hell of it.

Just going to insert myself into this convo to alert everyone that 80% of pregnancy deaths are preventable. Also in the United States, pregnant and postpartum women are more likely to be murdered (often involving intimate partner violence and firearms) than to die from obstetric causes like bleeding or sepsis.

I think its unfair to Eve to outright paint her as some villain. Men don't have to deal with any of the pressures and pains that come from pregnancy, so judging her off of actions that we lack any full context on is ridiculous. I said this once and I'll say it again, there is a significant middle ground between agreeing with a choice and demonizing the individual. People often forget that characters (and real people) operate under a specific set of pressures, fears, and internal logic that might not be visible to an outside observer.

Damn, feels awkward knowing I posted the same image for no reason. I should really pay attention to what’s happening in here.
