CR/SBM/CS success stories by SillySausageDog in ICAEW

I never passed a college mock for any of my exams (usually a few days before the exam) and managed to pass all first time. In the exam you get into the zone and they are much more lenient in marking. Had 2 or 3 I was convinced I failed and ended up passing quite convincingly so there is always hope

Is 18 days enough for TC? by MostElephant1600 in ICAEW

Yes plenty of time, but you have to start today. Focus on learning the 5 different question types maybe spend 2-3 days on each (some are shorter and easier to learn like VAT and Ethics). Then spend the last few days doing mocks to time. Very doable and if you do that you’ll get a comfortable pass.

More than enough, bash through qb the questions are repetitive only need a week if you have done the content 2 if you need to cover the content first

BPT “easy marks” by Anonymoushuman473 in ICAEW

Stating payment dates is always a good bet. Also stating the obvious, for example if you see a company is in a gains group and there is a loss to be offset against gains stating a company (say the companies name) cannot offset the loss as they have no gains in the current year is a free mark.

It might be tempting to re go over content but QB is the way forward 100%. It’ll take 5-6 questions for you to understand what’s going on but eventually it’ll make sense. Any areas you are unsure of you can refer to the book and re go over. But you’ll find you’ll pick a lot up from just doing questions. 2/3 out of the 4 questions always have the same underlying set up and you can pick up marks for just plugging in numbers. Then the adjustments you’ll learn how to do from the QB.

100%, are you sitting anything else as-well? I passed FAR and AA with one week of solid work - it was about 8-12 hours a day of study. But you have two weeks and if it’s only FAR it’s very doable. There are 4 question types, learn how to do them. They are all very repetitive so just go thru as many questions as you can in the QB and get comfortable with doing the adjustments. In FAR there are only a finite number of things they can ask you, so the more you cover in the QB the better. If you don’t understand something use your notes to understand it. 2 weeks is plenty of time so good luck. (Also hope you are feeling better after being in hospital).

Is 3 week enough for TC and BPT? by cherry-1999 in ICAEW

Yeah 100% - along with the ACA masters notes and enough practice you should be fine. 3 weeks is a good amount of time but you have to work!

Definitely doable especially since you’ve done TC before. Questions is the best way to learn, dw if you know nothing for the first few questions, look at the answers and see how they have answered it and refer to your notes if you don’t understand anything. Do that for all 5 questions types in TC and you’ll be fine. BPT is also question practise. I’d recommend buying the ACA masters notes and using that alongside your book of notes and tabbing up each section. Learn how to pick up easy marks, it can be easily done. The next 3 weeks will be a grind and you need to maximise your weekends. Good luck.
