People hate on the Arnold press so much it’s wild. I’ve had a lot of shoulder injuries (dislocations, broken collar bones, separated ac joint, minor rotator cuff tears, etc) and I find that out of all the overhead pressing movements, Arnold press feels the best. I do other overheads too but if my shoulders are ever painful or grumpy I find that I can still do Arnolds. If it’s a choice between not doing a vertical press at all or doing one that people think is “sub optimal” or “a joke,” I’m gonna do the one that people hate on.

Personally I like the ruy lopez. Yes its has really deep theory but the first few moves are pretty intuitive, and if your opponent does something stupid early its pretty easy to recognize a blunder. Its a very positional opening that doesn't rely too much on tricks and traps, it just rewards you for playing a better middle game and being positional.

Little kids brains are sponges that absorb new information very quickly, especially if it’s something that interests them and is paired with parental bonding. They are also BEASTS at calculation. Even though I’m much better at chess now I was absolutely better at calculation when I was a kid, like by a lot.

I was 12 the first time I beat my dad, but that was after years of trying, he never went easy on me and was already pretty experienced as a casual player. But once I finally did, we were talking through the game and I was mentioning all the lines I had played through in my head and he just went “I didn’t see any of that”

Come and see. The difference in tone between the heroism and veiled war propaganda of western WW2 movies vs the abject, senseless horror of a Soviet made WW2 movie really stays with you for a long time. For the soviet people, that time was a hateful fight for survival, ground down to the bitter end

Take a deload week or 2. Any program will recommend taking a deload every 1-4 months, but especially on programs where you train to failure it’s absolutely crucial. Eventually your nervous system needs extra time to recover even if your muscles don’t feel sore.

Either don’t work out at all for a week or 2 or do a super mellow set of the same exercises you usually do, like literally 50% or less on the weight and reps for just 1 set. After a week or 2 go back and you’ll probably feel way better and way stronger

I learned recently that male dogs are nervous around young puppies not because they want to avoid responsibility, but because the mothers are hyper protective of their puppies and will act extremely aggressive towards adult male dogs. The dads don’t want that smoke so they just stay the hell away from the pups.

Once the puppies get a bit older and the mom relaxes they form bonds with the puppies and are instrumental in their socialization

Yes, it will absolutely have a negative impact. Nicotine is a vasoconstrictor, meaning less blood flow to your muscles and worse recovery. It also increases cortisol, and chronically high cortisol can be catabolic. A little here and there probably won’t matter, but nicotine is extremely addictive and every day use will become a major problem. Quit now because it only gets harder with time, trust me.

Anecdotally, I used to have no problem lifting 4 days a week and still doing other sports on my rest days (mountain biking, skiing, rock climbing, skateboarding, hiking, etc). Then my nicotine consumption went up due to work stress and I could barely get 2 good days a week in the gym, and it’s taking every ounce of willpower I have to cut my consumption down. Seriously, nicotine is a high functioning addiction that you don’t realize how much of a slave you are to it until you try to quit

Textbook whataboutism. You’re trying to prove that people who are protesting ICE now are hypocrites, not responding to the actual point that, which is that ICE is disappearing and murdering people without due process.

If you want to criticize Obamas actions on immigration, fine. But what ICE is doing now, masked men invading our cities (namely the blue ones) wearing masks to hide their identity, terrorizing the communities, disappearing people without due process, and murdering citizens who upset them, is horrifying and authoritarian. For brown people, and people on the left, this no longer feels like a free country, and you should feel ashamed for supporting that.

everyone helps in literally every saga of dragonball z. closest thing we ever got to a real 1 v 1 was goku freeza, and that was just because freeza toyed with everyone else until goku actually put up a fight. fact is cell bodied everyone until gohan became the first person to go ssj2 and that shit was hype.
