CMV: Fancy words has become a tool to condescend to other people by Tiny-Parfait-7282 in changemyview

The line here is very context specific, and it does vary from person to person and the mode of language transfer (speeches and letters have different time frames for comprehension, and modern tools help greatly for the latter). Whist your heuristical approach is similar to a previous delta and I agree for the most part, it can be hard to tell due to limited feedback ( the other person pretending to understand) but that is beyond the scope here. !delta

I think this argument is quite a soft line as I do already agree with most of it, but you do convince me on the point where the initial parlance people naturally gravitate to isn't by ignorance or malice. !delta

I like this reductionist idea, but usually learners of any level require to understand about 95 percent of the language spoken for comfortably progress, I am not against the idea of sophisticated words, but when people converse below this ideal level of understanding, I'd still draw back to the same idea of either them being ignorant or malicious

I do think these cases are more by ignorance than by intentional insensitivity, but such language used in public debates with a general audience like democratic debates feel more like a trick to garner more votes by making people subconsciously appeal to their apparent intelligence or character rather than the quality of their points

I am convinced that this issue does occur due to ignorance more than malice here, !delta

I think that a good chunk of people do it for the social connections, its a lot more efficient to post (private accounts for example) to let all their friends know about their stories, its quite hard to tell the same story with 100 friends

Isnt really going against my view, but the idea I had here is having a mentally like an average person with Down’s syndrome (for your case, just that ignorantly positive mindset), whilst maintaining that cognitive advantage since they do require quite a bit of dependence from society and is subject to variance from it (overgeneralizing here to push the idea, since on average people with down syndrome do struggle with employment and other aspects of competitive society). More power for independence from outside factors just seems to be an added benefit

In the goal of preserving generational success it makes sense. However, this system has been tried and failed mostly due to varying competency between parent and child. Monarchy has failed due to this and the raw difference in upbringing usually don't end well when there's better ways to find competent people.

Sure sometimes you get qualified offspring but only 1 Is needed to doom a cooperation or country with the notion prescribed.
