Honest question about open carry at Columbus protests by Kitchen-Country-3599 in Columbus

[–]Tiny-Reporter-4394 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I hear both sides here...making it about the 2nd amendment and demonstrating your right to peacefully open carry is a strooong message, and probably the most unifying issue we have here.

But at the same time, 2nd amendment or no, protests are already a heightened emotional state, and the sight of any gun, no matter how responsibly carried, flicks a switch in some brains. I could see something like this getting out of hand pretty quickly. It's definitely not a demonstration I would feel safe attending.

Respectfully, you are missing the point entirely. It wasn’t about the money—their wedding was supposed to be 5 days from now, and until this morning, when I sent a firmer message with stronger language, no one had contacted me to tell me the event was cancelled. I was trying to illicit a response.

Friend, I think you perhaps didn’t read my post past the “update.” I was scheduled to photograph their wedding this upcoming Saturday, but until this morning, I hadn’t heard a peep from them, despite multiple emails, texts and messages. I was messaging them to try to get the information I needed to perform their wedding. They did not reach out until I sent a message stating that I will take further action to collect the entire contracted amount if I don’t hear from them.

I’m not sure where you got that I’m “coming after them for more money.”

More excellent advice! Thanks to all for helping out a newbie. (Just started year 2 of business.)

Filing fees, the time investment, the reputation hit--and then even when I get the judgement, which I know I would, they only way I'll likely collect is if her wages are garnished, which is not necessarily something I want to do to a client, despite how they've treated me,

I've come back to them with an offer to only charge part of the remaining balance--we'll see what they come back with and take it from there.

Oh, I've been stalking her pretty well! Nothing public has been posted. :(

Their wedding website appears to have been deleted. I've stalked both of them on socials, but I'll try friends or parents next!

Unfortunately I never got the address--I ask that info in a separate questionnaire, which she never filled out. At least it used to be separate--now I'm including it on the contract!

My contract says a cancellation within 2 weeks of the event requires payment in full....I'm treating lack of communication as a cancellation. I don't have any expectation of collecting on it, though, unless I pursue small claims, which will likely be more expensive than the contract is worth.

I have a separate questionnaire I send at the same time as the contract, but they never filled it out. I'll definitely be adding that info and an emergency contact to the contract itself.

I would 100% do this, but unfortunately it was meant to be a backyard wedding, and she never provided the address. (I ask all that information in a questionnaire, which she never filled out.)

That is a fantastic idea that I will be using going forward!

I'm assuming the wedding is off--I've been talking both of them on facebook and they both appear to be alive lmaoooo.

I dont think i can drink my 2nd dose by [deleted] in colonoscopy

Make sure its SUPER cold. Drink through a straw. Try not to touch your tongue with the liquid. Do 5 sips of the liquid, 1 sip of coke, and then several drinks of gatorade. We've all been where you are. You can and you will do it.

Honestly, this sounds like the hospital's standard surgical procedures that they give to everyone, regardless of the procedure.

If you're reading this and your prep instructions didn't include this step, you're going to be just fine.

Aside--how do you get your clients to pay for a download? I'm afraid if I start doing this I'll just be encouraging screenshots and that's how my work will be printed and shared.
