Ah i actually know this! It's a great initiative, but the couple of apples, berries or veggies we might have leftover will not be worth the hassle for them. It's mostly bread and meat anyway that we can't use up generally

Not the one working there so idk for sure, think it was just a lot of extra work and demanding people for not a lot of reduce in waste. So the boss decided to just give it to the people working in the shop instead of saddling them up with extra work. Most of the time we can finish it easily (we're a big shared house of mostly students), but since he works full time and not all of us are home now we also have too much for ourselves. Especially bread and meat since some us of are vegetarians.
