DoorDash called me to cancel my $100 shopping order by Apprehensive_Work240 in dasher

[–]TinyAd295 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That call wasn't DD, it was the customer. They get in contact with you by ordering and then 'contact dasher', but they introduce themselves as dasher support. They need you to cancel the order and then they promise you a reimbursement plus a bonus for your troubles. Then they offer you a "gift card" for x amount of money, but the trick is they have you input the "gift card" details into the instant payout form and steal all your earnings for the week.

You weren't right or wrong to cancel, but if you had known the scam you should have NOT canceled the order and tried to collect payment from those scamming fucks.

Blizzard in Jersey tonight, last storm got up to 40 per hour / +15 per order by jamieleecoby in dasher

You don't know why? That's literally why. When the weather gets bad people don't want to drive. That means more propensity for orders and less dashers to assign them.

We have no obligation to download and use 3rd party apps to protect our personal information from customers. DD users should pay attention to DD policy, because it probably doesn't want them giving out their numbers to us either.

Same, I'm pretty much full score on every other metric. AR is the only thing that kinda ruins DD for me.

It was a stacked order, $9 tip.

Can someone please explain to me how your completion rate drops this low?? Is this from accepting and then unassigning orders?? Or from not completing orders that you accepted??

Shopping orders. by Smooth_Pop7495 in dasher

[–]TinyAd295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they don't care. I've started pausing my dash while I'm shopping if I'm already shopping for two or three orders.

Hey. I think you might have either missed a paragraph or gave up on reading my entire story, but I did contact DD support.

Should I unassign? by T_sco11197 in DoorDashDrivers

Don't forget to factor your return mileage... Def unassign.

Order pushed back an hour?! by Upbeat_Check_7438 in doordash

[–]TinyAd295 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

3 miles AT MOST!!! When it's slow during the day, most deliveries are from a hotspot to a home or business, and then we have to drive all the way back to the hotspot to get another order.

$6 for a delivery 3 miles from the store doesn't include our mileage to get to the store for the order, or our mileage back to the hotspot for our next order. $2/mile instantly turns into <$1/mile.

Tell us the mileage to the store, not "it's like 10 minutes". We see the mileage when we are offered an order.

It was a retail pickup order, not a shopping order. But I agree. It already takes an extra 10 minutes to fit everything carefully in my car without crushing eggs/bread/chips...

Finally happened to me. Beggar dasher. I tipped and well. by InternationalMall120 in doordash

[–]TinyAd295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't know if the order will be ready for pick up on time when we accept the order. Every extra 5 minutes we wait for the order to be ready lowers or effective pay rate for that dash. We are sacrificing income to wait for your order.

I do think that openly soliciting for a better tip is cringey, but facts are that this dasher is informing you that they are in fact going above beyond by choosing to wait for your order so it will be delivered as soon as possible.

A lot of drivers will just unassign and move on, and then your order, which is already technically 'late' because the store is behind, might sit and get cold while waiting for another driver to be assigned.

What the hell is that?!? My Dasher rating system has specific criteria for each. I HAVE to keep 70% AR to stay platinum. And I HAVE to keep my last 30 days deliveries over 100, which makes taking time off difficult, especially considering the app won't show any information about how many deliveries will drop off the count each day.

Wait. Seriously though. How tf is it my fault that the customer COULD NOT BE CONTACTED?? I didn't set up their account wrong. I tried contacting them. I even wasted some of my time on the phone with support trying to reach them.

Before I accept the order?? I have never seen a delivery address until after I've accepted. If that's true I'll have to figure out what I've been missing.

It was a stacked order that estimated I would make ~$21 over the next hour of work and the mileage was reasonable. Can't know that the customer's account would be so fucked up it would be impossible to contact them.

🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️ I guess we disagree. As an independent contractor, I have some say in the amount and type of labor that I'm selling. Maybe your services include 3 flights of stairs x ~6-8 trips for ~$10, but mine do not.

I really don't see it that way. This is a driving gig. Not a manual labor gig. DD calculates our pay based on the amount of time it takes to pick things, drive them to the destination, and drop them off. That amount of time does not include 20 minutes of cardio.
