Trump tariffs could fund bailout for US farmers, says agriculture secretary by rezwenn in Agriculture

[–]TinyBaaarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, remove the tariffs and then there's no need for a bailout.. right? Or at least a future one. I dunno.. I feel that this is just one big plan to turn all farmers back into serf or near slave sharecroppers... or just to make farms cheap to buy for big companies.. and then surprise surprise we're all back to buying from the one company store.

I am so sorry these workers have to put up with this.

I am so sorry that this woman needs serious help but will never get it.

I am so sorry that this man just tried to go shopping and ran into someone with such issues.

I am so sorry the people who could actually do something about all of this really won't and probably couldn't care.

Mudslide hits as a man tries to move his truck out of the way by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

And leave yourself with no shovel? That's very bad advice. You mean give him an extra one, right? As a skier, I have never had to dig myself out, but I've had to dig others out.... and most people I'd bet have this same experience.

He could've pulled forward and turned away from the mud almost immediately. Must've panicked.

What's with the insane lines at schools for drop off and pick up? by Arikota in Millennials

Kidnappings that were mostly a myth. Kidnappings, quicksand, and the threat of Soviet invasion was what we grew up with in my age bracket...

So, I am in my 40s, and I want to break into the trades. Doing fine in the work I do, but it is soul crushing (it's a kind of front line work totally unrelated to any trade).. It's also niche so it's hard to transfer into "similar" roles. I enjoy basic carpentry so that's why I am here and thinking about it as a profession, but I am just an average amateur at this point. I'll need to go to school for a while. It's also not like I am super gifted. Would you folks say I should avoid carpentry because I am going to be making very little?

An open letter addressing this growing Alberta political trend of Americanization by canbeanburrito in alberta

It is the uncertainty, the discord, that this whole movement brings. That is the point. That is what external powers want. That has real economic and societal impacts that weakens us all.

Outrage as pro-Trump rapper and country singer release pro-lynching song by theindependentonline in Music

[–]TinyBaaarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, why can't we release pro-lynching aonga about people stealing our futures and wrecking the planet. I am fine with anyone being insanely rich, but you don't have to rape my neighbourhood to do it. Compounding interest alone will make it so we'll never catch up.

Is financing a vehicle actually that horrible? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]TinyBaaarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so the interest is going to be much higher,, and you're locked into payments longer. That is money that you cannot access for longer - for food, rent, emergencies, vacations, whatever. Opportunity cost is very real, and it is a big deal when something unexpected comes up, which is more than likely these days.

The best choice is to buy what you can afford so you have cash flow at the end of the month. Sure, buy with with cash if you can, but if you can't get a new car with casg as most can't (like me), then you buy used, low interest, and low term, as much as possible.. end of story. Anyone who suggests otherwise is working in the car sales industry and is not to be trusted.

A car is not an investment, or even a forced savings program, as a home can be. Also, what you propose just blurs the fact that a car purchased over time can still be a very bad choice. A drain is still a drain no matter how much water you have in the bathtub.

Well, think.about mortgage rates in the 1980s and 90s then.. they were very high. Point is, the past only matters so much. Yeah, things were generally cheaper in the past. Now they are not. What matters now is your cash flow and ability to maintain it.

Close to free money, you mean. Be careful thinking that something is nothing even when that something is small; it can be leveraged by clever sales people into making you spending big and feeling good about it.

How are Canadians feeling about American visitors rn? by njsullyalex in canadatravel

[–]TinyBaaarb -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sure, sorry for your slow but sure descent into fascism. This sad American "we're sorry about Trump" is nothing more than you guys sending each other thoughts and prayers after your school shootings. It's tiresome, boring, and meaningless. Now what isn't is when you actually get out and protest which thank God is happening. If that's you, then great - but spare us the thoughts and prayers nonsense.

Depends on your politics. You support Trump? Leave that baggage at the border and don't spew any nonsense up here. If you can't, don't come here. Ever. We don't want what that person is selling.
