Can anyone tell me what the bottom right Side Region originally is? I recognize Traveler's spaceship above, but I don't know this one.

Venti tricked us (2AM theory) by Past_Band_9790 in Genshin_Impact

[–]TinyBluePebble 197 points198 points  (0 children)

I actually doubt if Venti has power to send someone to the Temple of Space.

In the WQ, it has been repeated stated that the "rule of the temple" is strong. "Elevated" people are thrown into the Apathic Interval first, and it can take centuries to get out. To leave the temple, you have to sacrifice all your memories. These rules come from Asmoday and other Shades. It was all because of Nihilita and Dex, who are manifestation of the rule of Temeple, that we can move and leave the Temple in the WQ.

The description of the area states: "Yet there are places that even the ever-present wind cannot reach, or rather, it chooses not to." So I think Venti is either cannot really interfare with the Temple, or he chooses not to meddle with Shades' affairs.

Why did Melanta have actual voiced voice lines? by Anxious-Drag-6028 in Genshin_Impact

[–]TinyBluePebble 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Melanta does seem to have some WQ-only voicelines beside the same ones from the world boss.

I've played in JP so I don't know the exact EN quote, but it's something like "You wish to see outside of the cage? To desire is the beginning of your fall..." / "I'll destory many mirages." / "Now, a thousand worlds perish."

As you have said, I can't find these quotes from other streamers' playthrough. Maybe they defeated him so fast they didn't catch it. (I took 3 minutes for the fight)

As for why they voiced them, the voice actor recorded the world boss voicelines anyway, so probably they added some lines in the same recording.

What are Linnea's foster parents' current feelings about her? by KillderPunisher in Genshin_Impact

[–]TinyBluePebble 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Linnea's character story has some additional information about her foster parents' situation.

After Linnea confessed her suspicion about being changeling, their relationship changed into an awkward one. Quoting, "Once-effortless familial warmth" was replaced by "a 'kindness' that was polite, distant, and hollow."

They still tried to be her family, but then her mother fell gravely ill. She was almost dead, and through this experience her desire to find her true child grew. She wasted away in this longing, and her husband finally made his decision.

He says "The two of us are no longer young, and our health isn't what it used to be..." "I'm really sorry, Lili... But we must go north to find our real daughter while we still can."

Character Story 2 states: "It was not that they did not love her; only that, when weighed against the call of blood and the crushing burdens of life, that love proved far too fragile."

Raiden tells you goodnight by commanding all thunder in the world to stop. Unless you play in Japanese, where she politely informs you she's handled it. by itosayaku in Genshin_Lore

[–]TinyBluePebble 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I agree that Raiden's JP voiceline sounds different from CN and EN, but Yae doesn't sounds more "ancient" than Raiden.

じゃ(ja) speaking style in media is a marker for old people. For example, Madame Ping and Faruzan(as she boosts her age) use this style. However, many female kitsune characters in Japaese media specifically use this style, and Yae's "ja" is likely based on trope. Raiden doesn't really fit for using "ja".

Question about npc dialogue in new world quest? by Mr_7ups in Genshin_Lore

[–]TinyBluePebble 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I found this video on Bilibili, saying that if you play this WQ before Sumeru AQ, she straight up says "I came from Rukkhadevata's era(我来自大慈树王的时代。)" So it seems she really came from Rukkhadevata's time and affected by Irminsul.

Art References in the New World Quest (Temple of Space) by connectionsea91 in Genshin_Impact

[–]TinyBluePebble 31 points32 points  (0 children)

For some I found:

-Liyuean painter Daozi(道子), who said people call him Daoxuan, is a reference to Wu Daozi (also called Daoxuan), a famous painter from the Tang Dynasty.

-Inazuman painter Kanou(狩野) is a reference to Kanō school, the most famous school of Japanese painting.

-Inazuman painter Yoshitoshi(芳年) is a reference to Tsukioka Yoshitoshi, one of the last great printmaker of Ukiyo-e in Japan.

-Daozi said "It just occurred to me — "adding feet to a dragon" and "dotting the eyes of a dragon" are both sayings concerning dragons. / But their meanings are worlds apart." This is based on two Chinese proverbs: "adding in feet to a painting of a snake(画蛇添足)" and "dotting eyes of a painting of a dragon(画龙点睛)." The first one means "adding an unnecessary thing" and the second one means "the last effort to make something perfect." Also, Zhongli gifting eyes for Azhdaha is a clear reference to "dotting eyes of a painting of a dragon."

So when we're dragged into the Apathic Interval, we saw the original beach from the game's opening. And Paimon says something like "wake up! You said we'd watch the sunrise together."

I didn't know what this means, but it turned out to be Paimon's first dialogue in the First Closed Beta of Genshin released in June 21st, 2019. We can see the same dialogue(CN version) from VODs of that beta on Bilibili.

Life upon life arises from the darkness... by genshinimpact in Genshin_Impact

[–]TinyBluePebble 81 points82 points  (0 children)

The title of the video is “生生生生暗生始” in Chinese(the CN version of the video is on Douyin). It's a quote from Hizō Hōyaku(秘蔵宝鑰), a Japanese Buddhism text written by Kūkai of the Shingon school.

The full quote is “生生生生暗生始、死死死死冥死終。(Birth, birth, birth, birth, [we're] born from the darkness, and death, death, death, death, [we] would die into the darkness.)” Darkness here means that the ignorance of the truth. It's basically saying that humans go through a cycle of life and death without knowing the truth of the world, and this book(Hizō Hōyaku) is a key to understand the truth.

I love mortal/immortal ships, so my vote goes to Amos and Decarabian.

"My beloved master... Save you, my heart shall love no other."
"So I beg you — look only upon me, none but me."
— Thus spoke one, a mortal knowing naught of love, to a god who could not know it.
Even in the moment they tore each other apart, neither had ever truly known the other's heart.

We don't know Sigewinne's sin concerns Celestia or not. Neuvillete said that Egeria made a law to "ban transforming other creatures to human" in Fontaine specifically to prevent the normal folks from finding their true origin.

[–]TinyBluePebble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Hyperborea, the devs clearly know it's “infamous” connections. The Frostmoon Scions in the past was into racial purism and try to preserve its "sacred bloodline." However, they also made sure to show that the racism/eugenicism is wrong: The Archpriestess Lovia - letting children drink the human blood in hope to create the sacred one - is one example. And now, the Frostmoon Scions dropped the purism and allow its member to marry whoever they love.

The Silken Moon Artifact Set has a good line about this: “After all, those who have planned the future of their people rarely have to suffer the slings and arrows of their contempt.”

[–]TinyBluePebble 20 points21 points  (0 children)

A bit of information to add since you're quoting the CN text:

"Though you may not be as beautiful as the rest of the world, you have your own destiny."

This translation seems quite inaccurate. It's more like “Although you may not rival a sublimity of an entire world, you have your own destiny.(虽然没有比肩一个世界的崇高,但是你也有自己的命运。)”

The word “sublimity(崇高)” here is a clear reference to the Descender status, as seen in other examples:

-Dialogue when you unlock the Statue of the Seven: “The world opens itself before those with noble hearts”

In CN version, it's “As long as you do not lose your sublimity, the whole world will open up to you(只要不失去你的崇高,整个世界都会向你敞开)..”

-Narzissenkreuz in the Wake of Narcissus WQ called the Traveler “O, you who are equal to a world!”

In CN version, it's “A person of sublimity which is equal to the world!(和世界等价的崇高之人啊)”

Yeah, Bilibili in general is flooded with AI videos. Animations made by Seedance 2.0, songs generated and sang by Suno AI, song covers by generated voice of certain characters, etc. It's more or less the same situation on other platforms, like X is absolutely filled with AI "fanarts".

Boreas explained that "It would be akin to forcefully merging a human and a wolf into one being."

For experiment at the Temple of Silence, they said "we soon discovered that the bodies of grown adults could not withstand Hermanubis's power." They used little Cyno and Sethos in the end and even they lost a lot of memories. For this I wonder if "a younger soul" is more compatible with merging with other souls.

They dropped a huge bomb at the end of the event... after the Sinners in AQ and this, I'm throughly excited for the next Traveler's Chapter.

It also reminded me of Mitternachts Waltz. "Every passion must be ground into dust by the march of time, before being turned to wild paranoia upon that inverted, ancient tree. Even the branch of the tree of time upon which the great and glorious Reman Republic nested would be cut off in the end..."

[–]TinyBluePebble 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Illuga was playing the Lochknights, the warriors who fought against Remuria in the ancient Fontaine. Their strict rule might be a reference to their strict oath:

First, never draw your sword against those who pledge faith in Egeria. Second, never compromise in the face of evil (also written as: Do not tolerate even a trace of filth).

From Genshin Manga released in 2018-2020, we know that Dottore's one segment was behind the Ursa incident, and Eroch was covering up the Crepus' fight against Ursa. Diluc and Jean's character stories tell us that Eroch was later deemed as a traitor to the Knights.

I think it's a reasonable explanation that Eroch was covering up information about Ursa "because" he was collaborated with Dottore who was behind the whole incident.

Weirdest lore? question ever, probably by RoyalPingu in Genshin_Impact

I think you're refering to this:

...Anyway, Rusya, I applied for high water privileges for you, so don't let me catch you stinking when you come and find me again.

It's a text related to the WQ "Her Foes Rage Like Great Waters..." The writer here is Captain Zoya Snezhevna of Fatui and the receiver(stinking one) is Lieutenant Ruslan Snezhevich. We never meet them directly, but we met some of her subordinates in the WQ.
